The Epiphone Korina 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar is based on the '58 Gibson design that ushered in the space age! The Korina Explorer features a 24-3/4" scale mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.
2 humbuckers give it its rock 'n roll voice with 2 volumes, one tone knob, and 3-way switch for shifting from rhythm to high-altitude leads. Swept-back body is made of korina wood, which is lighter and brighter than mahogany and promotes resonance.
The Epiphone 1958 Korina Explorer electric guitar has a legendary guitar style with its roots in the '58 Gibson design launched at the begining of the space age. The 1958 Korina Explorer features a lightweight korina wood body that promotes resonance and a set mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. The neck profile is fast and sleek while the gold hardware and dot inlays make this guitar a comfort to play and watch. Two humbuckers deliver the right tone - no need for overdrive or distortion pedals. The Epiphone 1958 Korina Explorer provides the tone and the look that inspires musicians.

I have had this guitar for about 3 months now and WOW!!!
Firstly the neck is awesome! it's so smooth and there is no problem getting right up to the very last frets as it has a set neck. The frets are really close to the actual fret board so it has a really nice feel and you don't need to press down much at all.
The action is another great aspect, you can lower it until the strings are on the frets and your still able to lower it even more!
The pickups give a nice heavy sound and can also give a nice blues sound!!
It is the nicest guitar i have played on for looks and playability.
Also at this price its a real deal!!!

I have owned this guitar for two years now and overall, it's a great guitar. It has tone to die for and it looks awesome! When playing classic rock such as AC/DC or Led Zeppelin I couldn't hope for anything better. It works very well as a blues guitar as well, with the neck pickup selected and the tone turned down a bit. When playing metal, I can sometimes find that the pickups are a little weak. I play in a pub band and our other guitarist gets far more out of his pickups. There are two main problems with the guitar. Firstly it's very neck heavy so you will have to hold on to it whilst you play, and secondly the pickup selector switch does not last particularly long. When I switch from the neck to the bridge pickup I often have to fiddle with the switch for a while until the sound kicks in. This is not a major problem though, as this problem can be rectified. If you find that you need a pickup with a higher output, you could always upgrade to an EMG or a Seymour Duncan. Overall I think this is a great guitar and i would fully recomend it to anyone!
