Gibson Acoustic J-185 Modern Classics Series (Vintage Sunburst) Description

Full, bold tone is generated by a solid Sitka spruce top that's given snappy projection by solid Eastern maple back and sides all faithfully amplified by the L.R. Baggs pickup. V-profile mahogany neck and narrow waist offer long-term playing comfort. Includes Gibson hardshell case.

Gibson Acoustic J-185 Modern Classics Series (Vintage Sunburst) Reviews

Rating: 9/10

Looks gorgeous, finger picking produces sound that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Huge sustain, massive bottom end. Strumming requires thought, as the resonance creates a delay, like each frequency is waiting to speak. The finish is not brilliant, especially around the nut, but most of the little errors can be polished out whilst you are setting up the instrument. Throw away the Gibson Brightwire strings and fit some Phozy Bronze Martins. I always wanted a Gibson, and this guitar does not dissappoint me. Be careful to select an instrument with enough neck-set to give you the ability to alter the action. Some necks are set at too low an angle for future adjustment. Also remember, these instruments are assembled 5000 feet above sea level, so let it aclimatise for a few months before making any adjustments. You will not want to put it down!
