micromodul LV2 is a pocket-size, custom-made controller of 2nd generation for Ableton Live. Lots of different control elements are integrated into this controller. This combination is the real strength of the LV2. This inexpensive controller unifies track- faders, encoders, buttons and joystick in a very compact form. You can use the two independent programmable button rows ( 2 x 6 buttons) to control various LIVE functions like scene launch, fx control, mute, solo, track control and slot launch. Parameter feedbacks from the application are indicated by LED’s. The four push-encoders (endless pots with switch) are perfect for ‘jump-free’ controlling. Important functions like track select, slot/scene-scroll and slot/scene-launch are fast accessable on the encoders by simple activating the main function. As of Live version 4.1, you can use the LV2 immediately by using different setting files which are shipped with the controller - without the time consuming process of programming each separate control element.
Start the era of modern sequencing.
The LV2 can also be used with other programs. It is suited well for software sequencers due to its architecture/layout. You can not program the LV2 or assign controller numbers or key numbers, but that is a function that is rarely needed with current programs. The device is very compact and easy to transport, and you do not even need any power adaptors, it works with standard and rechargeable batteries.
Improvements to LV1: 2 programmable button rows with 12 LED’s, 4 push-encoders, main function and some better ergonomics

These controllers absolutely rock! I have had 2 LV2s for a couple of months now and I really can't fault them at all. I don't use a power supply with them and as other reviewers have noted, they run for AGES on batteries. In fact, even after sunstantial use, I'm still running on the original batteries! The one slight criticism I did have (took a while to get the setup right even using the included setup files) evaporated when I upgraded from Ableton Live 6.0.1 to 7.0.3 as Ableton Live 7.0.2 and above includes native support for LV2, LC2, LX2 and LD2 - it's literally plug & play and the LV2s control all the parameters you need them to. These are so good I'm going to buy another one! (or maybe the LC2 for that lovely crossfader - can't decide if it's worth sacrificing a row of keys or not).

The Faderfox LV2 module is a nicely built unit, which has all the features you need to get rocking with Ableton Live. The sliders, rotary encoder, and X-Y joystick, and buttons are all of good quality and feel like they will last a good while - friends of mine have been using this module for about a year and have had no problems.
Ableton does not have a dedicated Midi profile for any of the Faderfox range, however, the unit comes several user defined profiles which you can use to start an Ableton project in various configurations e.g. 6 Midi 6 Audio etc, that have good default Midi control mappings that will get you started.
The unit allows you control 12 tracks and effects, by means of multiplexing the control sliders and knobs - this means you need to get your head around how to drive the LV2 to begin with, however, once you have spent a few hours fiddling with it will become second nature.
When you buy the unit you will get the profiles CD, the LV2 module and a manual and nothing else -if you are short on Midi leads buy extra, and if you don\'t already have a Midi interface for your PC/Laptop you will need one as this unit does not have a USB interface - basic Midi to USB interface leads are about £20.
The unit does not come with a power supply, however, it comes with a set of batteries pre installed, making it ready to run out of the box - the batteries really do last long time, and when they are due for replacement a yellow warning LED flashes at you to change them.
Top product, and a must for beginners on Ableton Live....

I have bought both the latest models from faderfox, here are my feelings on the Faderfox micromodul LV2.
well its a great product, very well built, sturdy and quite heavy for its size.
with this model you realy can do some mad live stuff within ableton,.you have control over things like clip pitch and loop points etc for each clip, the faders for tracks are great and feel good,.all midi controls realy are instant,
i only gave the product 9 out of 10 because it doesnt come with a power supply.,however they do come with batteries and the batteries do last for ages.
honestly tho i dont think ill be using mine with a PSU because there so handy, you litteraly just plug in,.switch on and go.
great if not "must have" for use with ableton.

As an avid user of Ableton Live I thought it was finally time for a midi controller for live applications and recording in the studio. After weeks of researching, I decided to go for the Faderfox LV2 as it is specially made for Ableton via midi port, which means it is compatible with all Macs and Windows based computers. I've had the LV2 for a week. There are no problems up to date, as a matter of fact it's performing perfectly for my personal setup. I highly recommend the LV2 for anyone who wants a controller for Ableton Live.
No, not the wide-eyed animal, but the eye-catching, revolutionary MIDI Controller by Jazz Mutant.
It’s fair to say that whatever your keyboard playing skills there is a controller out there for you, as we’ve already seen in section 1 of this part of our computer music guide. But what if you don’t want a keyboard? Or what happens if you already have a keyboard and just want some extra controls to manipulate your music software? Fortunately there are many MIDI controllers without keyboards that will fit your needs.
Faderfox updated their MIDI controllers line with four new nice white looking controllers: the JX2, DJ2, DX2 and LX2 are replacing the old models.
