Product SKU: SCRATCH LIVE
Scratch LIVE is the ultimate software and hardware solution for bridging the analog world of vinyl and the digital world of computer audio files. Using regular turntables or CD players, you can scratch and mix files from your Mac or Windows XP computer's CD or hard drive, add in a live mic input for scratching, and even bypass to standard vinyl if you wish. Scratch LIVE is the complete digital solution for the vinyl junkie -- take your entire collection wherever you go and leave your precious vinyl at home!
The Scratch LIVE USB interface connects one or two standard vinyl or CD turntables to your computer. This extremely rugged, portable, high quality, bus-powered USB interface features two switchable phono or line inputs, a microphone input, two line outputs, and pass thru outputs for the phono/line and mic.
The included 12" vinyl records each have a Serato exclusive and unique control signal which allows Scratch LIVE to track the motion of the record, simulating the same movement with digital audio. Due to Serato's proprietary control scheme, the result is a feel and sound indistinguishable from playing vinyl. As a producer and DJ, the track you finished today can be played on a real turntable tonight. You'll never have to cut a dubplate again!
The minimum operating system requirements are either a Mac G4, OSX 10.2.8, or a PC P3-700 running Windows XP, either with 128M of ram or more.

I am blown away with the simplicity and usability of Serato. After some initial trouble calibrating it to my setup (due to my dodgy needles and cables which were long overdue to be replaced) I was up and running in no time. Once I had swapped to new needles and cables, it didn\'t take more that 5 minutes before I had got my head round the basics and was ready to start mixing.
I love the fact that it is fully integrated with my Itunes library and imported all my playlists. It would be handy if Serato could pre analyze bpms of tracks in your library / crates but it\'s not a big issue as I found some freeware that analyzes bpms for everything in Itunes and then pulls the info through.
There is no noticeable difference in mixing with Serato and using traditional vinyl, as there is no latency, scratching is just the same too.
I haven\'t had a chance to play around with cue points and loops but from what i have seen so far I\'m very impressed. Gone are the days of spending £6 - £8 on records, Serato is the way forward!

(Sorry for such a long review but I love the product soo much!!) I am an emerging DJ and was looking for the best alternative to buying hundreds of vinyls or cds to DJ with. So after researching the product and then saving up £370!! (Don't worry it's worth it)
I ordered it. After attaching it up to my turntables and mixer and installing the software, I started using it with my PC. It was amazing. I was just like using regualr vinyls. Unfortunatley I cannot say how it performs with CDS but judging on how it performed with vinyls, I would say excellent as well! I use Serato for both mixing and scratching and there is never any latency. OK i can't help the needle skipping once in a while but that's unavoidable with vinyls. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a DJ alternative to hundreds of vinyls or CDs. My parents even use it to convert their old vinyls to mp3 format so it's a bonus there. BE AWARE THOUGH: buying this might make you become the best laptop DJ in the world!

Everytime i use Scratch Live i feel like a superstar dj, its tight control is one of the best i`ve seen. Following the instructions you can be setup within minutes. Clear guides, tons of support, arrived well packaged, what more can you want.
The only downfall i can see so far is Rane is not able to support vista 64bit users (yet).

We mentioned in a previous article that Ableton and Serato would likely be making an announcement about some exciting developements the two companies have made since their creative partnership was announced in October 2008. And they haven't disappointed.
The news that Serato and Ableton have formed a creative partnership is nothing new. But as yet we have not seen any developments from this exciting collaboration. Here's hoping for some info from NAMM.
Thanks to the rise and rise of Laptop DJs and live music, the era of the turntable-spinning superstar Dj may soon be over...or not? Read to find out.

In Part 2, we turn on the computer, install the drivers, adjust out turntables in the "Set-Up" screen of Serato and FINALLY "Throw Down" a bit.. HA! Not the most exiting video because driver install is BORING! However, it's very nessessary when it comes
A brief demonstration of master tempo in Serato Scratch Live. I am working on the audio level issue. For now, just turn up your speaker volume.
