First of all I have to thank Dolphin Music. I´m from Austria (that´s quite far from Liverpool), have already bought two (not too cheap) items from Dolphin per prepayment/banktransfer and I was left satisfied and happy with all. Everything worked well, the items arrived in best conditions and are working perfectly.
Concerning the 2nd item I bought, the Digidesign Digi 002 Rack, I have to say, that before getting involved with Digidesign/Pro Tools I had been a user of Steinberg Products for more than 8 years.
Had started with several versions of Cubase and ended up using the latest version of Nuendo. For 1 year in between I also had been using Logic. So I can say I´m a kind of experienced working with those products. I always had been satisfied with Steinberg and Logic (been using their software samplers Halion and EXS24 a lot) and I also had been of critical mind about people saying that Digidesign/Pro Tools would be the one and only professionals choice.
At the beginning of this year I decided to make a change in my recording environment and the only logical step forward could be trying to get involved with Digidesign at that time.
And so here comes the conclusion and my personal final review: Digidesign/Pro Tools are definitely NOT the one and only (especially as an artist, not an engineer, I do ALSO recommend Steinberg/RME, Logic and Co, that´s great stuff!) BUT Digidesign/Pro Tools are (for me personally) simply THE BEST!
The Digi 002 was perfectly working from the very first start, there were no troubles on installing the whole software-thing including the plugins and it sounds really AMAZING! I´ve always been monitoring on Yamaha NS 10, it´s a reference sound.
You have to take a little time for learning Pro Tools (if you´ve never been working on it before) but it´s not that difficult I heard some people say and, more important, it´s that worth!
So finally let me say: lots of respect to all the other manufacturers and thanks for their creative input and products but for me personally Digidesign/Pro Tools have also become the leading guys!
I HIGHLY recommend the Digidesign Digi 002 Rack!
