Alesis’ award-winning Monitor One – Greater accuracy than ever before.
It didn’t take long to realize we had a hit on our hands. Just a few short months after its introduction, Alesis Monitor One Studio Reference Monitor was a winner of the prestigious TEC Award, and on its way to becoming one of the most popular near field speakers on the market.
The reason was as clear as its own crisp flawless sound, super-flat wide frequency range, clear imaging, high-power handling and excellent bass transient response. These features add up to a unique ability to create incredibly accurate mixes that translate perfectly to every playback system.
Monitor One became an instant favorite among professional engineers and studio owners, as well as earning it a place in countless home studios.
Obviously, there was only one thing left to do. Make it even better.
Better design, for improved performance.
With such a successful platform to build on, Alesis’ engineers wisely settled for incremental improvements designed to coax even better performance from our monitors.
They started with a new 6.5” polypropylene low-frequency driver for tighter, more accurate bass response. Then matched it with a newly redesigned, 1” pure silk-dome, high-frequency transducer for even smoother, more accurate detail and response, and a broader sound stage.
They improved the overall frequency response (changing from 45 Hz – 18 kHz, to 45 Hz – 20 kHz +/- 3 dB) and coupled it with more efficient power handling. They also provided magnetic shielding to allow use in close proximity to video and computer monitors.
Surface improvements that go more than skin deep.
Perfectionists that they are, however, our engineers didn’t just settle for tinkering under the hood. The cabinet was redesigned for a new and more attractive professional finish, and are now mirror image; left/right pair for symmetrical speaker placement.
But more than just cosmetic improvements, the new Monitor One also features radiused edges for reduced edge diffraction, along with improved porting – thanks to the next–generation of our exclusive SuperPort venting technology – to eliminate the “choking” effect of smaller, shorter ports. The result is a low-frequency response which extends well below comparable near field monitors.
It all adds up to a spectacular next-generation of a popular standard - the new state-of-the-art in affordable, high-quality studio monitors.

the Alesis Monitor One MKIIs are a really
good buy they are a really good price and work well
with almost any amp.
I did read a review as you will also see saying they have to much bottom end this is not true if you position them right .
the tweeter should be at the same height as your
ears as said in the manual and not to close to the walls..if you do this right the mid range will shine.
they do have a good bass that's part of the charm
but it is not to overpowering
play about with the position before making your mind up about them
I think there fantastic and I have been using them for a few weeks now and I love them
thanks dolphin

after using yamaha ns10m's,tannoy reveals and fostex pm1's the alesis monitor one (passive) is far better value for money and not so hard on the ears. For under £100 these are by far the best all round studio monitor.

These monitors look the part but be warned. There is very little top end and too much bottom end on these speakers. I first bought them about a year ago for a home studio. Right away I noticed that recorded instruments were sounding dull when played back. However at the time I put this down to the desk I was using which was a good bit older.
However I have just recently finished mixing some recordings, and all of them came out with far too much treble when played on other systems. This can only be down to having over compensated because of the speakers. If it was not the speakers causing the dull sound, the recrdoings would have sounded the same on other systems.
Im not saying that the speakers are unusable, but you would want to have a good graphic EQ adjusted to get the most out of them if you are going to use them in a home studio recording environment. I would suggest playing a cd which you are very familiar with back through them early on, and making adjustments to the eq until everything sounds alright to you. Chances are you will find yourself reducing bass slightly and adding a lot of treble.
The speakers do have a low price though so at the end of the day I suppose you do get what you pay for.

Find them well priced these days in most shops.
They last a life time and you can give them loads of stick, they love it!
AWESOME bass response and superb mid and top end sound quility and sound reproduction.
Plenty of clarity, a clean and rich sound.
Not the loudest of speakers but also not the biggest. They would impress most of your mates.
Absolutly ideal or more than enougth for most people home studio needs.
I love em.
