Once again Boss present a durable, versatile effect that compromises on nothing, other than a little character. The real winners here are the Hall and Spring emulations - glacial, post rock noodling, and splashy, surf flavoured riffage offer themselves effortlessly. Unfortunately the Plate and Room modes seem a little sterile and uninspiring (although perhaps the Room mode would find a home if you were working with an amp without reverb at all). The Modulate (chorus) and Gate modes really leave a lot to be desired. Either could be from a nasty multieffects board, where no doubt they would be forgotten. Still, that Hall setting is huge, and if either Jeff Buckley or Godspeed... are your bag you'd be right at home here.
