We've moved this order onto pre-order as it is currently undergoing re-manufacture to meet European standards. You may want to look at the E-MU 2x2 which is an equivalent unit. You can find the E-MU here.

The Midisport 2x2 is fantastic! This nifty and sleek device has just about everything you could ever want in the average studio, featuring 2 ins and 2 outs able to be used similtaneously, a midi thru function to remove the neccessity of a computer, and the abilty to use it with a PC, a Mac, or Linux machine. Just plug in, install the drivers, set up your software sequencer, and you're done! Get recording in minutes! This device doesn't lack in design or build quality, and looks stunning sitting on top of Anything.
This is THE device for the musician!

Well, basically, the Midisport does exactly what it says on the tin.
I got the item, got it out of the box, installed the software onto the PC, plugged in a MIDI cable, launched my favourite program, and hey presto, away it goes.
I bought this for a few reasons.
1 - To connect my keyboard to the PC to record music.
2 - To use VSTI's Live when playing with my Bands.
3 - To control more operations in my MIDI Software in a Live scenario.
In addition to this, I got the 2x2 instead of the 1x1 so that I could connect another keyboard to use even more VSTI's in a Live environment.
Basically, the item is simple to use, LED's show you exactly what's going on, easy to install/set-up, and the box itself is pretty rugged and sturdy.
At a reasonable price - it's a great piece of kit.

Ask yourself a question: What do I need MIDI for? For me it was for two reasons:
1. so that I could plug a control keyboard in to play virtual intruments on Cubase SX.
2. So that I'd actually be able to use midi tracks on CubaseSX
So the cheapest alternative would be the Midisport 1x1, but I always like to futureproof these things, so I got the 2x2. It gives me 32 discrete channels, which I can't see being all used in the near future.
In short, it's cheap, it's rugged, it installs with the greatest of ease, it WORKS!! and most important of all......
....it adds a few flashing lights to your ever expanding arsenal of music bits!
