This is a very useful box for if you don't have a decent channel strip for home recording. Live it makes a good line box and taking both XLR and balanced or unbalanced 1/4" TSR jacks on input and output is excellent for whatever you are connecting up. The phantom power is very useful for a condenser mic or indeed any kind of powered box you want to have before it.
I liked the fact that it can handle a large variety of sources - it can be dipped 20dB - and it takes a lot to clip the signal. Low cut is also handy for eliminating the useless low end rumble from mics.

It's noisier than a high end Mic pre sure - but being realistic it is far, far superior to a basic soundcard mic input.
It has more character and a range of different tonal colours than a stock mixer Mic pre too, plus the tube adds a certain amount of harmonics to the signal.
It doesn't work magic on anything however - despite what some reviews might make you think - although the different settings have quite pronounced equalisation shifts about them. I would agree also that the limiter settings do seem a little uncontrollable and useless for recording work.

A superb box to have about though for connecting almost anything to anything - particularily live -

The Behringer MIC200 is totally useless for recording applications because of the high level of AC hum. This may be due to the 12AX7 filiment being powered by AC instead of DC. May also be inadequent power supply filtering. I dunno. The power supply is a 9vac wall wart (a no no for serious recording applicatons). Behringer is not very helpful and refused to supply a schematic so I can't make a detailed appraisal without more information. Buyer beware.

No problems with this at all. A great, handy way to add some colour and warmth and boost the sound level before it gets digitized. the result is higher quality, warmer vocals.

If, like me, getting that shimmering, harminoc-rich sound for your acoustic guitar remains a mystery, this box will be a godsend. You just plug it in, choose from one of a number of pre-amp settings, and you sound like you know what you're about. Settings balance use of the valve and the limiter, and my experience so far suggests that the limiter is a bit clumsy for recording, although as a valve pre-amp it's fine. I reckon it will also transform live situations.
