As a gigging cellist, I bought this pickup on the recommendation of the Warsaw Village Band, who I assumed would know their stuff, and as it turned out, they did. You still need to fiddle with the EQs and put loads of reverb on, but this is where to start. It has the added bonus of not being a permanent fixture on your instrument, since it's attached with this sticky stuff.
I'd recommend this to any string player.
