Stealth plug

this item on first impression and other reviews looked very good, and thats not to say its not! i will state the let downs...firstly dont buy this thinking it will work through you soundcard? it does not do this? you must have a powered speaker system or an amp handy, this is where the info on the item is vague in my opinion, there is a certain amount of hiss when playing with the product, i found this annoying a bit, other people opinions my differ, the amp models are very good and all included software is quite good, if you want to plug your earphones in for practice then its ok anything else will require patience or ignorance to gain that great sound

Stealthplug with Amplitude 2 live

(August 18, 2008)
Rating: 8/10

This is an excellent product, especially for this price range. There are some minor issues to be aware of but these shouldn't put you off from choosing the Stealthplug.
On the downside, the included software did not install automatically from the included CD-ROM. In addition to the Stealthplug and the Amplitube 2 software they have also included sampletank, Tracktion and a few others. Therefore you need to explore the CD to find and download all of the programs.
On the positive side, all of the programs work. Getting to grips with Tracktion to get recording is reasonably easy, just use the manual to get your settings right. Multi track recording is simple. I was up and running within half an hour. My Laptop runs Vista Home Premium, there were no issues at all.
The actual Stealthplug interface is also simple to use. I have used it directly from guitar to my Laptop, connected it to the output of my Boss GT8 and used a microphone through it too. They all worked great.
To conclude, well worth the money for home recording.

CSR Studio Reverb

Sodding brilliant. There's a few hi-end plug-in modelling reverbs out there now but put brutally CSR dumps all over them. I've been comparing it to my Waves Renaisance Verb - certainly one of the best - and the first thing I noticed is CSR is so much easier to use. You simply don't have to fiddle with it. You can if you want... but lets face it, we all want to chose a preset, stick it on and it sound right straight away without having to piss about, whatever style. The CSR is the first reverb I've used that does that.
Second thing I noticed is the depth of sound. When I listen to a lot of verbs I hear them as bits of software whirring away in a computer. When I listen to the CSR I hear a big funky racked verb in a £4000 a day studio...in the Bahamas. And fortunately that's what it's interface looks like too. 'nuff said? Think my Waves Renaisance is going to be gathering dust...
