A great start to a good mix is a good set of headphones and the AKG K-77 does just that.
Delivering a very good alround EQ and volume level.
I have heard that some say they are a bit fuzzy/top heavy but not to my ears.
These are (in my opinion) the best low value headphones out there, to go for, anything else just because it may be a few quid cheaper is a grave mistake.
Great for students who are studying sound based courses or just reference headphones in the studio.
I would not try to master with them but I would never master with headhones any way but if was I would go for a closed back headphone but thats just me.
There is my 2 cents, take it of leave it.

Good sound better than the price might suggest, easy to use transmitter case is metal so if it takes a knock won't shatter, Put the bug gain adjuster tool in your pick box, so you have always got it. I can now practice without anymore nagging about cables. No belt back which is also great. Great for practice home jam etc.

Not for the water heads

Bored 1 (June 23, 2009)
Rating: 8/10

This is a nice product, but others who like me who have a natural large head (I have difficulty finding hats, caps are always XL) should take note that these headphones become very tight around the skull after a while. Which is a bit funny since I bought these to upgrade my older AKG set which is a simpler model - and it doesn't feel tight at all! I guess any product that you wear on your body shouldn't be bought without trying it on for real, so my mistake - doh! The tension can't be adjusted. The rather huge brace actually makes me look funny... does it matter in the studio? Otherwise it has the typical AKG sound which is a little light in the bass for some people's taste. It doesn't cheat - you'll have to provide good sound to get a good sound in these; they're pretty revealing. Which is exactly what you'd want in your home studio.

These headphones just arrived, and I can honestly say, they are amazing.
I have used a lot of headphones in my studio but these are top quality and the price is un-beatable. It was an extremely quick delivery, and I'm loving these headphones. They are great for mixing tracks, and general recording. There frequency range is great and everything is just really great.
I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone. They are great for everything, you need headphones for. The only con I can think of is the wire length could be a couple meters longer for me, but thats just me. You can always buy an extension cable which are cheap, the length would be fine for control room use, but you would need extension lead for vocal booths and so on. At the end of the day, these are great and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Profesional Cans

Alex (May 19, 2009)

This was my choice of headphones for my professional home recording studio, after watching for over two months by internet reports (reviews) on pages with specialized expert opinions.
AKG also contacted to inquire.

The AKG K 271 MkII is basically the same as its predecessors, but the design changed a bit. The technical characteristics (which you indicated below) are really good, by which I mean also the response curve at different frequencies of sound, impedance and noise cancellation.
Aesthetically they are strangers to me but honestly I find them very original, especially the bars that are part of the head support.

Technical specifications and interesting facts:
- Manufacturer Warranty: 2 years

- Level of noise cancellation (in studio): -10 db: It is more than enough (checked it with a condenser microphone recorded) so that the microphone does not pick up the slightest noise from the hulls. They also isolated a lot (so we can use them to listen to music and play video games without disturbing).
- Weight: 240 g (without cable) -> 550 g (Pack of original factory packaging)

- Cable off: good idea if we do not want to go sticking hitches that can break, this is also a sign that these headphones will last us many years, also because we can buy the cable separately.
- At 1kHz Impedance: 55 ohms. More than enough if you do not have a preamp if you want to use headphones or listen to music on mp3. Basically a lower impedance is less need to raise the volume so that we understand, have increased sensitivity to sound.

- Cable Length: 3m and 5m cable supplied in the second package (a type of cable with loops)
- Size of handset (for a single hull): large, covers the entire ear.

- Type headset complete (around the ear).
- Type of driver (from English): dynamic.

- Sealing acoustic (sound leakage for evirtar).
- Sensitivity: 91 dB / mW, 104 dB / V

- Frequency: 16 Hz to 28.000 more than enough to not lose any detail in either low or high frequencies. Besides the frequency response shows that provide a neutral sound (which is what you're looking for in a recording studio).
- Coating of helmets: Like cable, it comes standard with two different coatings: an imitation leather (very soft and quality) and a "velvet"

- Connector: XLR type mini coated in gold (as used in helmets professionals) with a mini-jack adapter jack recuertos both in gold.
- They have a really advanced technology akg and above all improved, and which is used in the old AKG 271. They have a large transducer which is what makes a great vibrating membrane is that it will give us a really good sound. The highest sound quality is not achieved until they are used for many hours, the membrane needs to be flexible with the vibrations caused by sound.

- Head: self.
- Technology Varimotion. (AKG)

- They have a feature that mutes the helmets once removed from the head to avoid unnecessary leakage of sound into the microphone (perfect for recording vocals in the studio).
Overall impression:

- La banda self makes these headphones are really comfortable also avoids pressure on the ears.
- The light weight of these helmets may carry on for hours without muscle fatigue or neck Sifra (checked myself)

- The coating of hulls makes them very pleasant to the touch and soft to the ear.
- The mere fact that we are detachable so many years of use of helmets.

- The length of the cables is perfect because we can move freely in the room in which we avoid and paste pulls it.
- The sound is really nice and professional, there is no power or serious or acute, but the treble sounds like silk ... this is a great advantage when recording in the studio, and if we boost the bass There is the option of using an equalizer.

- The contents of the package is quite attractive in my opinion. Two detachable cables and two different coatings, in addition to the quality of helmets for the price ... you can not ask much more.
- Build quality is superb, they weigh little, but feels very sturdy, well are not the typical events in china (which may or may not salirte good), are made in Austria.

What is CAN YOU?
Especially for recording and editing, and mixing in my opinion but also provides the budget to buy some good monitors.

Also, I used to play, changing the equalizer a little sound (a little boosting the bass and treble) with very good results. Anyway that's a matter of taste.
To listen to music on your computer and the mp3. Soon you will notice if you get some 271 Mk II that what sets them apart from other helmets, the depth and nuances of sound it provides.

And if you dare, and no matter how you look on the street, listening to music while you're away from home.
These helmets definitely worthwhile, have their disadvantages compared to its competitors nearby Auido Technica, Sennheiser, beyerdinamyc, sonny ... but in general, valuing the price of the package, the amount of extras that have separate parts, the quality construction, sound quality ... is the best option, at least it was for me after searching and studying the subject muuuuuuucho. Furthermore you know that in principle a high-end brand as recognized as AKG, especially in the professional sound, you can not wrong.

PRICE: You pay what it values, and have AKG warranty.

I hope that I've helped you.

AKG D5, best ever?

Peter Banks (May 18, 2009)
Rating: 10/10

I recently purchased simply as an alternative to my many 58's and to start replacing my stock of more mature d3700's. However from its first use I was totally blown away by its staggering tone the ability to control it so well!
Indeed recently I lined it up with several new neumann (km 105's) on a quite good rig (MIDAS XL4, and HK Line aray) the difference between this £500 and £50 mic is minimal, several (urm) more experianced engineers were also equally impressed. I have since replaced my older mics completely and were it not for the idiots I often have to work for or hire to, would replace my 58's and perhaps neumanns!

I spent hours searching for condensers that would be both affordable and offered good quality. The 170s do just the job and with no hole in your budget. Great with overheads, guitar and anything you'd like to add more detail to. I have to say that for the price/quality it wont get better than this. Dolphin has a great price on them as well.

Better than a 58!

John Garvey (April 14, 2009)
Rating: 10/10

I bought one of these on behalf of a client who specifically specced it in an installation contract. I was blown away by both the build quality and the sound quality. It sounds far more transparent than a 58 and brings a whole new layer to the traditional 58 sound. It doesnt sound different in character, just "thicker"... Needless to say I have already started using these myself and as my 58's die, they are being replaced slowly but surely with these.

I bought a pair of these mics because I wanted to mic up my Acoustic grand piano.

I thought they would sound alright ish taking into acount the price, but when I actually got round to using these mics as a pair on the Piano, they sounded awesome!

I started using the C 3000 B as a Vocal mic, I then moved on to Acoustic Guitar where it really does deliver!
Yes, this is also brilliant on Guitar. is there something it's not good at? Washing the dishes maybe?

I was not suprised though, because AKG make very good microphones, and the AKG C 3000 B is a perfect example of this.

I have always used Shure SM 58s as a a vocal mic, but when was stolen and needed to be replaced I read a few product reviews. The AKG is a great mic and in side by side tests appears to heve a little more punch and definition than the sm58. I also have an AKG C5 condenser version which is in a different league again. I highly recommend both of these mics.
