yes it's me again and guess what, yep my little laney set up(as above) is still going strong and sounding just as good as the day I bought it.This may be getting boring I know,but if you're thinking of buying one I thought I'd give you an update. I have over the past year thought about buying some new amplification...just fancied somthing different, nowt wrong with the laney just fancied a change as you do..the point being, having tried loads of stuff out, up to £2500's worth! nothing sounded better than this little combo (as good, but not better) so I've decided to stay with the amp and buy yet another bass(a stingray if I can find one at the right price) my 4001 through this gear sounds lovely. Anyhow, as stated above amp&cab still going strong, cant fault it, you will be hard pushed to find better for the money...HIGHLY RECOMENDED.

Having clicked on this site (again) I noticed that the reviews I posted are still here!!! Well to keep you updated, my little RB7 & 115 cab are still going strong,still sounding and looking lovely and pushing out loads of power with great tones as usual..having just done a series of outdoor gigs the only problem that i've encountered is that, the carpet covering has lifted on the bottom rear of the extention cab,I suspect caused from the damp, (nowt a bit of glue wont put right)..My point being, if this is the only problem after 4'n'1/2 years of hard on the road gigging(6 a month average)this little set up is doing just fine...I would recomend this gear to anyone who wants great tone,great reliabillity & value 4 money.. it's easy to cart about as well.

ive been playin bass now for about 12 years. ive been looking for an amp to practise with for ages and ages. so many people have said that theres no point in getting a 30 watt amp because its better to wait and get a huge watt amp.
thats totally stupid, this amp is almost too loud! i just wanted an amp that i could sit and play in my flat and just have fun with. i cant even turn this thing up past 1 without it being too loud.
if youre new to bass, or just want something to sit and play, then this is perfect. it has everything you need. u can get most sounds with the e.q. ive been looking for so long for a good amp and this is exactly what i wanted.
it sounds great. its got a really nice sound. some music geeks will go on and say blah blah blah i prefer a 1000 pound fender whatever,or it lacks this or whatever but sod em'. so many people seem to think that the average person buying an amp is some studio freak and really all you need to do is listen to it and play thru it.
and its really quite cheap i think. im just soo happy with it. ive played so many amps and none really have sounded this nice. buy it buy it buy it!
if youve been searching for a while and are not quite sure, get this amp. you wont be upset.

also, dolphin music sent this out so quick! i ordered it on thurs morning really early and it came on friday! so if ure reading this and uve been looking for a decent bass amp just to jam with and have fun with..... this is it. and dolphin music will get it to you super fast.

I sent in a review of this amp not long after I bourght it in(2007).It,s now 2010 and after many gigs the amp is still going strong and sounding wonderfull.I have given it some stick! both on the road, and on stage/studio, using 4/5/and 6 string (passive and active) basses, this little amp has coped effortlessly.I,ve had lots of realy good compliments on my sound from other bass guitarists and band mates,who all agree that this amp for size/weight and value for money is hard to beat well done Laney...ps it still looks great too.

I bought the Laney FS2 foot switch for my VC-30 to togle the reverb and overdrive on and off. I've had it for 9 months now with regular gigging and praticing with no complaints. It comes with a sticker sheet so that each switch can be labelled according to the function it switches. This is handy and a clever way Laney can sell one foot switch to cover lots of models. My only gripe is that the FS2 lacks an LED indicator to tell me the status of the channels - this might seem a small thing but sometimes it can be hard to tell if you're running distorted or not in the midst of playing a loud rock gig! The same applies to the reverb channel. For the price however its not a big problem.

This is a great little amp. I'm a big fan of the Laney sound which is a rich, full clean with good valvey break-up. You won't get pure crystal clean ala Fender amps but it gives a great, subtle bluesy overdrive when you push it. This little guy pumps out a lot of volume for the size of it. I start getting yelled at around 2 on the clean channel. Good overdrive, as others have mentioned not pure metal-fuzz but really smooth. And I really like the reverb - team it up with a slight delay and you get a huge rounded sound. Overall really happy with it.

Solid-built and finished in a classy black and chrome livery, the British-built Laney VC15’s key influences are obvious. But this class A/B amplifier is much more than a one-trick pony.

Straight out of the box, the clean channel is chimey, and allows for a surprising amount of headroom for such a small amp. The bright switch takes you into Fender territory, and does that ‘Johnny Marr thing’ very well. Crank things up a little, and things start to break up nicely. The Beatles, The Stones and The Who, are all in there somewhere.

The drive channel is where this 15-watt amp comes into its own. Partnered with the right choice of pedals, this channel will do just about anything – from light indie or Britpop crunch, all the way to those ‘We Will Rock You’ tones. And they’re all achievable at reasonable volumes too!

Of course, it would have been nice to see this packaged with a footswitch, but when you realise how much you’re actually getting from this amp - reverb, a Jensen custom speaker, effects loop, bright switch, speaker extension and both high and low inputs all come as standard - it doesn’t seem to matter too much! All for less than £300 too!

In all my years as a bassist this is by far the smallest amp I have used, but I found that the events I'd played before hadn't warranted turning the volume knob up beyond 2, so the bigger amps were perhaps a little too powerful for me. So I bought this 30 watt amp, and hoped it would be powerful enough. And it is.

Sure, it's not going to blow your ears off or fill the Albert Hall, but it's got plenty of punch and volume for a small amp. It's small and light enough to be easily transported, and I was surprised how well it filled the small theatre I was playing in recently. The EQ is easy to use and creates a lovely range of sounds.

A couple of negatives, though. While the output from the speaker itself is good, the D.I. output apparently has a lot of noise on it. We didn't have time at the event to figure out what was causing it, and it might just be my particular amp rather than the model as a whole, but we ended up putting a mic in front of it and that solved the problem. Also I found that to get a decent volume you have to have to gain up a fair way as well as the main volume, and pushing that too far does generate a bit of noise and distorts a little when pushed hard.

Still, for smaller gigs and studio work this is a great little amp. Certainly a lot more power than you'd need for practising alone, and can easily match the sound of a live drum kit. Affordable and good performance. I like.

I have used marshal dsl 40w and the fender blues reissue. This amps tone I prefer. It offers a wide range of warm tones from jazz to hard rock and the clean tones are crystal clear. I have searched for an amp that delivers great clean tones and a classic overdrive at low volumes and this amp has it.Well done Laney

I was looking for a bass combo suitable for a student to use in a small group backing a choir. In the past I though that you couldn't get a nice cutting sound from a small set-up. As usual it took some time and trawling to get an idea of what was out there. The Laney RB3 Richter represented the best value and ticked all the boxes. It's the sound from a relativley small box that's impressive then it does have a UK designed power section and a 12" Celestion. Here is a straight forward bass amp that does what it's suppose to do. Did I say straight forward then it's worth saying that it does have a switchable compressor and an internal limiter that gives plenty of scope for sound shapeing. In the event that it has to be used in a larger context it has a solid metal grill to protect it while moving with twin side handles to save your back and the bonus of a a DI socket to hook into a bigger rig if needed. Not bad value I say.

I've owned this amp for a few weeks now. First impressions were amazing. I play everything from blues to rock and heavy metal.
With my PRS SE Tremonti I could get pretty much every tone I wanted out of this thing.

What I love is the independent EQ for the clean and drive channels. Although I would have liked each drive to have its own EQ. The VTS buttons help me get that scorching metal tone out of my singlecut guitar.

The clean channel is quite big sounding (but that may be my guitar, it always sounds big), and sometimes I want to use the bright switch to get the sound a little cleaner.
I use the Drive1 channel for my bluesy tones. Drive1 can go from pretty clean to a rock setting. The valve makes it sound very warm. (although the clean is very warm too, which doesn't use the valve)
The Drive2 channel goes from rock to metal, I never put the gain past 8 or so, above 9 it becomes pretty chaotic and pretty hard to keep the sound clean.
The sound this thing produces (together with my PRS SE Tremonti) is warm and big, or using the EQ and VTS-buttons I can get it to sound more flat. I haven't tried it with any other guitars yet, but I'm hoping to get my hands on a PRS SE Custom 24 soon!

Overall it's pretty much the perfect amp for me. (although its quite big, wider than in the picture, the LV300 should be a bit smaller) Oh, and its loud.. really loud. I usually have it around 1.5 when practicing at home, which just about sends the neighbours complaining. Putting it on 4/5 should get your drummer-friend pretty worked out to match the volume level.

I picked up the bass less than a year ago. I started with some used, very basic gear and grew from there. I got the RB4 as my first step in the right direction and was amazed with the tones I could make, even with my cheap bass. Now I've stepped it up to a 5-string and my amp seems like a whole new piece of equipment. It's great for everything from mellow jam sessions in the evenings to rock'n out heavy with some fellow musicians. It has a pretty fair range of adjustment with the eq, nothing to fancy as far as enhancements, but overall quality of sound is pure and prime. It's got a bunch of features I've yet to tap into so I look at as an investment I'll grow into. No regrets!

At first, I received a faulty amp but Dolphin replaced it as fast as possible. I received a new one just one day after returning the faulty one.
The amp is great. Clean channel is perfect for me. Drive channel is great for blues or rock but don't expect toplay hard or heavy metal with it. But it accepts my distortion stomp box easily and the result is dynamic and great.
You can play at home or for small gigs. Perfect for my personnal use.
