quality pickup!

this pick up is amazing.
when i bought it from here it was £106 but £130 is still wicked!
its main competor is the I-Beam pickup... that provides a really natural sound but i chose this because it is less likely to feedback when playing at high frequency and is better for playing in bands...
it really cuts through the mix.
i recommend it!

An incredibly simple and affordable option for piezo pre-amplification. The unit is quite long and extends deep into the acoustic guitar body. Installation is very easy provided that you are able to solder a couple of wires from your pickup to the tiny circuit board that occupies the extended jack barrel. You'll also need to cut a hole in the strap post position on your guitar to house the Powerjack.
Tonally I find the unit to be quite 'inert'. The sparkle provided by piezos is preserved but there is a rich bottom end that really warms the sound. There doesn't appear to be any extra colouring of the sound though, and what I get is the original guitar tone but louder. Remember that this is a simple solution and there are no luxuries provided such as volume or eq.
I have also dismantled one of these units and used it to power a Graphtech Ghost system on a Strat. The tiny board fits inside the control cavity very easily once the barrel and jack have been de-soldered. (Only try this if you really know what you're doing) I get a great balanced sound from my acoustic saddles but in the body of an electric guitar. This is ideal for live work where I need to be on more than one instrument during a song, but without the need for special guitar stands or Line 6 products(!)
I give it 10/10 for cost effectiveness, quality and simplicity. It 'does what it says on the tin'. Highly recommended.
