I've had this amp for years. It's a really good amp for the size. I've used this amp when I played bass with an acoustic duo and it had enought power that I didn't have to run through the PA. It gets pretty loud to be so small. However, it is not loud enough to play with a full band.
The speaker sounds great! It hits the highs really good, and it even gets the low B of my 5 string with clarity. I really like the XLR direct out. I've brought this little amp to a big gig, and ran it direct throught the house system. Gave the same sound as a big rig. The only problem I've had is that the volume knob makes a loud crackeling sound when being adjusted. Other than that, this has to be the best sounding practice amp that I've ever heard or played through.

Whether you're gigging or playing at home/studio. This bass head is AMAZING! NO DOUBT! The only limitations are whether your bass cabinets are good enough. Amazing First bass head, have tested Ashdown heads and a few others and this still comes out on top, due to its amazing versatility, I mainly play lots of death metal and things of that nature, but this can do blues, jazz or whatever else you want it to. The only reason this head unit would not be for you, would be because you need a BIGGER 1! I have gigged this, it wasn't plugged into the PA unlike the guitars and mics but it still could be heard over the top of both drums and 2 guitar stacks! the cabs did have a bit to do with it, but seriously if you're wondering what sort of bass head to buy, GET THIS ONE! or one bigger!

This is a quality product from Hartke with all the dials for most of the tones a bass player would require. It is built for the job usual passive and active inputs. It has a mixable input gain from both clean and distorted channels. A fairly good quality compressor. Good bass and treble contours for coarse tonal control, and a 10-band switchable EQ for the fine tweak. It has a pre-/postDI circuit with ground lift for studio/big gig work - nice touch! To finish off an effects send/return loop and 240watts into 8ohms or 350watts into 4ohms. I am using this with a 4x12" TP cabinet - Awesome. I used a Laney Richter before this which is a good combo. I am now converted, it is like playing your CD's through wharfedales and then changing to B&O - I am serious.

Well built sturdy cabinet i have this combined with a 2.5xl with a peavey nitro bass head and have had many a compliment by jealous bass players! Looks fantastic on stage picking up all the highs and lows of any bass player (i play a stingray 5 and play lots of low d's and c's on it and it rumbles dirtily making your heart beat for you) this is a fantastic unit only reason why it hasn't got full marks is its a bit too pricey for everyones pocket but you won't regret it if you do dig deep for this :)
