What an awesome product!
When I installed it, I didn't realise that you not only get the L3-16, but also the L3 4-band, the L3 Ultramaximiser, and low-latency versions of all 3 products thrown in for good measure, which I'm sure will prove very useful.
The first thing I did was open up a mastering project for a recording I had worked on recently, in which I had used other industry-standard mastering software. I had a fiddle around with the L3-16, and it certainly did NOT yeild instant results. Althought the lay-out is actually pretty intuitive, it's an outstandingly complicated plug-in.
But once I got the hang of it (which drew on every ounce of my experience) I found myself capable of producing results I could only dream of before I had this at my fingertips. It basically allows you to brick-wall limit your mix, but keep the punch in the frequency bands most crucial to it.
It's not for the feint-hearted, and certainly not for the inexperienced. Those with less experience would be better off with something simpler, like the (also brilliant) L1 limiter. But for those up for the challenge, it's a plug-in with incredible power and scope.
