i think i should outline this straight away, if you haven't heard a compressed sound before and don't know how to use one then you really need to do seem research into this (regardless of what your going to buy) before you buy the pedal. Though this could be your reason for buying the pedal as at such a low price its worth it just to get to know the sound.
the pedal itself is brilliant and is perfect for producing anything from a basic slap sound to those rage style tones (bullet in the head especially :)
though i did find on my pedal the controls where very very loose and would change completely when transported at all, But at such a low price i really have no complaints, if you do get this look at the manual's on the boss website for sample settings (lmb-3)

They say size matters, but sometimes size can be misleading. Under the hood of this small box you’ll find the same technology that we use in our professional audio products. With the Phono Preamp PP400, you can lift tunes from vinyl, and then send them to a mixer or a recording unit. This awesome tool equalizes the signal according…

Does what I need it to do
Nick Humphrey (January 29, 2009)Rating: 9/10
I got this because my mixer is a DJM500, meaning you cannot have a turntable hooked up to channel 1 as it only accepts line inputs. My DJ layout is deck, cdj, cdj, deck - so it made sense for the faders on my mixer to match up with this, rather than cdj's on channel 1 and 2, decks on 3 and 4. Does the job perfectly - although as it turns phono into a line input it means you will have to boost the signal around 12db to get the proper volume, but this is normal. Difficult to fault really, it's very robust so great if you go gigging with your own equipment! Well worth such a small amount of money.

Behringer Super Phase Shifter SP400 review
Colin Morgan (June 5, 2008)Rating: 9/10
I have owned many effects pedals and multi-effects pedals over the years. Many have been great (I still have them), but most have been overhyped, inflexible and produce a cheesy sound. The SP400 is definititely one of the best I've used and will remain in my favourite pedals case for rapid access.
Not the most expensive effect pedal I've bought but definitely better than some more expensive ones I regretted buying!

Exceptional Value
Roger Ash (April 25, 2008)Rating: 9/10
Since I swapped my Trace Elliot rig for an Ashdown combo, I've not been happy with the sound, feeling it was kind of "woolly". I have to admit that when someone suggested I try a compressor, I was sceptical, as I'd always regarded them as something to use in a studio, or to make up for poor playing technique. Anyway, I thought I would try a cheap one and take it from there. Well, this is the cheapest there is by an order of magnitude, and the result is amazing. My flabby 1 x 15 combo now sounds like a really tight 4 x 10, and the most amazing thing is this pedal costs less than a set of strings.

Looks can be deceiving
Michael Basra (April 16, 2008)Rating: 9/10
When i first saw this mixer i carried on scrolling. Whilst it was in my budget, I saw one that I preferred. When I found out that the mixer I wanted was discontinued, I was offered this as alternative so reluctantly I accepted. When I opened the box however I was pleasantly surprised! I couldn't wait to get it out of its box and set it up. It's only once you see it close up and can touch it that you see hoe good it really is. The faders are all so smooth and easy to scratch with. I was also worried that the X-fader 'knob' would be too big to hold, how wrong I was. I am definitely very happy with this mixer. All the faders have taken quite a beating and are still smooth as butter. I Love how you can control the curve of the faders to suit you personally. The faders are also VCA controlled. not too sure what that is to be honest but the only other mixers I've seen with that cost over £400! OK so the BPM counters aren't perfect(most of the time mine just say 160) It's nice to have something to fill up the surface of the mixer as opposed to just flat metal. Their merely luxuries on a mixer that costs so little and has so much. I recommend this to any beginning or even advanced DJ. The best bit is it even comes with a behringer sticker so you can add that to your box of vinyls or Cd's!!

Love this kit, great value for money and great sound. Solidly built and well laid out. Careful you don't lean over it and accidentally nudge the kill switches though! Also the beat counters are pile of crap - even when you tap them manually and press 'Lock', they don't lock and start drifting of their own accord so absolutely no use at all. But hey, you should be using your ears and your intuition.

This really is an excellent mixer and incredible value - a steal for the price. To be honest the auto beat counters aren't very accurate unless you tap the switch - really just provide a lightshow, but the configurability of slider curves is excellent and the sound quality is superb, no doubt due to the use of Voltage Controlled Amps on the sliders, so the audio signal path doesn't have to go through them. No detectable noise from this baby - it sounds like it cost several times as much. Smooth sliders and solid build quality with a thick, brushed aluminium plate for the top panel. Behringer have got it exactly right.
