This sub is great if you have at least two. Sensitivity and response are as good as you can expect at this price range. Unfortunately it's true that it doesn't go as deep as you would expect, but given the size of the cabinet and the price, it doesn't do a bad job, especially for live sound applications where a clear punchy bass is more valuable than ultra-deep bass.
To summarise; A good value rumble box.

I think these are amazing. I do a lot of recording on location and at home, and while the rest of my gear does everything I need, I had inferior monitors and began to have serious concerns about inconsistent sound.
Being careful with money, it seemed a bit difficult to justify spending money on something which is not actually part of the recorded signal path, but the choice of monitor deeply affects the finished product, and I realised I needed a set of monitors I could absolutely trust.
I bought these after reading many reviews, and having now used them over a couple of very different projects, what I love is that these monitors make it so easy to produce mixes which work over a range of audio devices from small computer speakers, car audio and portable CDs to big home hi-fis. Their audio quality is superb. I did consider buying the sub-woofer and going for the smaller LSR4326’s, but I didn’t want yet another thing to have to take on location, and to be honest it was the right decision: as a stand-alone pair for the audio work I do (stereo acoustic musical instruments with some sampled instruments) the bass is wonderful – it’s “there†and seems totally part of the sound you hear.
There are some practical things I’ve discovered on using these, which it might be useful to know about:
1) It is important to treat your room (even just a bit!) to make good use of any speaker. However, the LSR function really helps clean up and focus the sound in any situation. The speakers worked well in one location with curtains (temporarily) covering the walls, and our second location was a church in a room full of old junk – boxes, candles, books etc – which actually was great as it broke up the room reflections. Obviously in a perfect world you’d have a perfect acoustic environment for your speakers – and if you do, I’d still recommend these ones!
2) Coming from an era where speakers just had one input, be aware that there are lots of bits and bobs to plug in. There’s the spdif in / out, the network cables, the mains and the usb (if you use the control panel on your pc – it is useful, so worth the extra lead). That’s quite a lot of “stuff†connected to each one and while this isn’t normally a problem in a fixed installation, you need to allow time for this if working on location. The LSR mic plugs in temporarily to do four quick "sweeps" and then you unplug that and your're good to go. Only one niggle – not a significant one really: when I dismantled the system at the end of my sessions, I found the network leads / terminations quite difficult to remove.
4) Good speaker stands are very useful in uncontrolled environments. Bear in mind that the LSR4328Ps are bigger and heavier than you might think, and you don't want to break them! After buying these speakers, I did a bit of research and bought a pair of QuikLok BS-300 adjustable speaker stands - they are very stable (locking to 5 different heights) and have a 9 inch square plate at the top, with triangular adjustable plate at the bottom, so work on any surface, however uneven. The speakers fit on the stands perfectly – I secured them with four small bits of sticky Velcro on the base of the speaker – just to stop them being knocked off the stand. It’s worth having some temporary cable management (for example, I use a loop of double-sided Velcro to secure all the leads to the speaker stands to keep them tidier).
5) The isolation pads which you can also buy from Dolphin are really good if you are using these speakers on a table – they isolate the speakers from any contact and the speakers will still sound great!
While on one level, monitor speakers are just tools to do a job, these are outstanding tools which let you do a really professional job! I love these things and have absolutely no regrets about purchasing them.

We have different small studio rooms, and we needed a good pair of reference monitors for one of them. So, a friend of mine had a JBL LSR4326P pair and I found them sounding very well. So, my choice was to buy this pair of speakers. Getting them out of the box, it gave a pleasant strong feel when installing them. I'm not a fan of high tech situations, and the RMC... I was not in the mood to install the software for calibrating the speakers, but , yeah , we did it and it really gave more energy to the mixes. In the software you can bypass it, or even you can make other EQ settings and save them. This pair is in my opinion perfect for small home studios. If you have more room, you better can buy the bigger brother JBL LSR4328 for handling the deeper EQ. But, we tried to set the volume as high as possible to hear how much this speakers can handle and it's really amazing how good they are. .
That's my opinion. We are working on surround mixes now for movies, and we are thinking to buy another set with subwoofer for combining .. who knows.

Such clarity, such punch
Sam Vennard (April 6, 2008)Rating: 10/10
I bought these speakers a while back now with the Yamaha EMX212S powered mixer, which is a little under the minimum rms for the speakers.
THESE SPEAKERS POUND!! seriously, if you are looking for CRISP clean highs, CLEAR fruity mids and HARD hitting punchy lows this speaker is what you want. Amazing throw capibility, it can be heard clearly everywhere in a venue.
I am currently only powering these speakers (pair) with 200Wrms each, which is 50W under the minimum recomended amplifier power. Yet still on a test i did one day to see how loud the setup could go, the bass vibrated the bolts on the door open, my vision went blurry and the lights all dimmed!!!!
The ported enclosure is tuned to around 32-35hz which is perfect for hard hitting bass, from the deep lows to the punchy higher end kicks.
The carpeted finish gives a lovely feel and look, with stong handles for lifting.
On the rear there are jack connections for parallel wiring etc.
And finally, its JBL!!
and i cant wait to get an amp to PROPERLY power these beasts...

Review JBL LSR 4328 P
frank verlinden (February 28, 2008)Rating: 8/10
1st part having them about 1 week in my possession.
1st part, because I have the feeling that it is too early to give a final opinion about them.
They do not sound harsh in the high frequency, which is certainly nice. But, for some reason I have the impression that they there is some kind of boxiness. You get a clear and well positioned reproduction for instruments and vocals which are mixed to the centre. But signals which are panned to the left or right have the tendency to 'stick' to the speakers... They do not become totally part of a 'detached' sound field. I added spikes underneath them and put them on massive concrete stands because I know, out of earlier experiences, that this improves definition. But not now... It might be that both the drivers, electronics and the amplifiers need some time before they show their full potential. I tend to believe that this the case for these JBL's (although I did not read this in reviews). To be seen...
RMC is a nice feature which indeed improves the reproduction in the low frequency areas.
Overall first impression is positive but I'm not totally convinced... yet.

These speakers are phenomenal. Getting them out the box, they were bigger than I initially thought they would be, but you soon realise with the size comes one hell of a punch…
Setting them up is child’s play and the infamous RMC facility is very easy to put into practise. Plug in the mic supplied, hold down the button and bingo, your speakers will EQ themselves based on the size, shape and contents of your room. Mind-boggling and best not to think about it for too long.
But it’s not the RMC that’s the main selling point for me, even though it is a big plus. It’s the easy of use. The fact that these monitors are linked via Hi-Q means no fiddly adjusting one or the other to get them sounding the same, adjust one, you are in turn, adjusting the other one. The clear, easy to use front interface means no leaning over the back, peering into the dark to change the EQ or volume. The USB connection to the computer means you don’t even have to touch the monitors to change the set-up. And if you want to get really far away, the remote control enables the old “standing in the middle of the room with your eyes closed” mixing which is a personal favourite of mine.
Sound wise, they blew me away. They made my ropey mixes sound bloody awful and my good mixes sound great, which is what I want from a set of monitors. Honest and flat response, emphasising the good and the bad. Beautiful. Crank them up for a party and they sound brilliant, put them low for a midnight mix down and they still sound ace.
I’m really chuffed with these monitors. I highly recommend.
