Great pair of Speakers!

Mackie have sorted themselves out with the v2's.

If you didn't know, Mackie's original SRM's were made in a factory away from their normal setup (China I believe) and as a result suffered from some cheap components, resulting in worse sound quality than expected from Mackie, and many breakdowns and problems.

As I understand it, as a result of this, Mackie went back to basics and re-developed these speakers, making it elsewhere.

Although I say this, one speaker suffered a dead tweeter within 5 weeks of purchase, and with only 3-4 uses. Dolphin Music - as always were fantastic about it and sent out a brand new one and arranged pickup of the old one (normally people would have to send one back and then they'd send out a new one). Kudos to DM here - excellent service!

Now, the speakers themselves provide a very full sound and have plenty of power behind them. I used mine for so many purposes and they perform fantastically for every single one.

I use them for:
- Disco & Karaoke
- FOH PA for my 4 Piece Band
- FOH PA for a 2 Piece Act
- Reinforcement for my Keyboard
- Speech PA

The 450v2 sound is very clear, have plenty of bass when required, and by far out performs anything else in it's price range. before buying, I had my concerns over the 12" providing enough bass compared to my previous 15" Speakers. No concerns anymore. I cannot praise the 450v2 enough.

Very suitable for venues holding up to 120 people. I've used them at venues with up to 200 people and they've managed comfortably - could have done with a sub just to take some of the weight off the 12" Drivers and help fill the room that tiny bit more, but still no complaints and would do it again without hesitation.

In smaller applications there is a switch on the back to reduce the bass output, which comes in handy more than I ever thought would.

If you're after quality speakers that will produce a great sound, not very heavy (can carry two at a time without struggling too much), and are reliable and versatile, then these are for you!

An excellent piece of equipment, I purchased a pair back in September of 2009 and I have to say the quality of these speakers are impeccable. Extremely lightweight, 3 band EQ with sweepable mids, and an on off switch for the EQ, perfect for gigging musicians, excellent bass response, perfect for front of house or as a fold back monitor, hardly any hum from the power amp, although some can be expected the higher the volume switch is turned up. Extremely good value for money, quality close to the Mackie SRM 450v. Handles can get some getting used to, but overall an excellent piece of equipment.

Mackie 1202-VLZ3

Mackie 1202-VLZ3

Sure it’s cute, but the Mackie 1202-VLZ3 is a serious professional compact mixer, with features that belie its small footprint. The ideal compact mixer for home and project studios, the 1202-VLZ3 is equally at home on the road, on the stage, or in the recording studio. Here at Mackie, we can never leave “well enough” alone. After all, the…

This is a great light-weight mixer with awesome capabilities. A professional sound that is very musical. The headroom blows the socks off my previous mixer (Behringer) which caused me terrible problems with low end feedback / stage rumble. No such problem with this mixer which is loud, clear and trouble free. The controls are solid, as is the whole unit, which has been very well built. The 1402 is a better option for a band as that version comes with sliders. This Mackie mixer is packed with features and benefits and when Mackie designed this they set EQ's exactly where they should be to get a great sound, at Unity. Leave them pretty much there and you should have a good sound when you turn it on...provided you are using good speakers and a quality Amp. You may have to tune to the room at live venues, but 3db either way ought to do it on vocals. If you are doing your own sound on stage, you need something that is not too complicated and just works. Hope this helps...as you can see I'm a fan

Mackie 402-VLZ3

Mackie 402-VLZ3

Until now, mixers built for low-input, two-mic or one-mic-and-a-guitar applications really skimped on quality. With their flimsy construction and dismal sound, they resembled and performed like children’s toys. So we created the 402-VLZ3, the perfect ultra-compact mixer for applications that require few inputs, but demand full-on professional sound. The 4-channel 402-VLZ3 delivers pure VLZ3 quality in our smallest…

Richard Clark (February 3, 2009)

As a relative recording newbie wanting to simply record myself I began reading up on various mixers to work out exactly what I needed. I spent hours trawling through information, became slightly disillusioned in the process but finally happened upon this mixer, the 402-VLZ3. I have to say that this is the best purchase I have ever made, in fact I have not once felt inclined to write a review on a product – until now.

As I said, I’m recording only myself, meaning guitars and voice and using my PC to tie everything together. I am using in conjunction with this mixer an AKG C1000S Microphone (http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/1503) and an Edirol UA-1EX USB Audio Interface (http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/7842). The resulting recordings, if you are curious, can be found here: www.myspace.com/richardkclark. I am very pleased with the quality of recording that this mixer is able to produce, it was well beyond my expectations.

The mixer seems very rugged, its clearly not tacky plastic as it has a pleasing weight to it (for its size) which is always a good thing. As previously mentioned, I am/was a recording newbie but I found the mixer very straight forward to get to grips with and the manual provided was both entertaining and informative! Its nice to find a company with a sense of humour. The mic inputs sound great, due to the XDR2 pre-amps. Both of the main input channels have built in DI which you can turn on with the press of a button (no additional DI box needed), I used this to record my Fender Strat, turned up the low EQ to max, then turned the resulting notes down one octave on my PC and found I had a passable bass guitar! For recording purposes where only a couple of inputs are required I would heartily recommend this product. I feel I have only scratched the surface of its potential applications so far, it has many additional features which I have not yet needed to use.

Another plus point is the software license for Tracktion 3 which comes included. You need to download it, but its not a massive file so its no problem. The program is very powerful yet simple to use, you will have no problem doing pretty much anything you can imagine with the sounds you record with your mixer. From simple acoustic songs to many layered rock songs to dance or whatever, it can do it.

My main problem with the mixer is trying to think of any downsides to it. Its such a fantastic product. If you are looking for a high quality mixer but you don’t need a whole raft of inputs then you really do not need to look any further. This product is made for you!

Anyone looking for a pro level monitor under £500 should really check these out. If you dont like the hr824 dont bother, if you do but cant splash out that much, these are a good bet. i bought them without hearing them as a bit of a gamble and was very impressed. The good reviews are very just, they have that mackie sound for sure! the stereo imaging is impossible to beat especially at this price. my pair have arrived with some slight manufacturing issues, ie one has a hum coming from the cabinet so it needs to be replaced. im sure this is just something to do with out-sourcing! but they have a good warranty so no worries. i really do recommend them despite this, the phantom central image they give when properly set up is spooky!

Much better than the SRM450 bag which is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. The SRM350 is light enough to sling over your shoulder as opposed to its bigger brother which unless your Geoff Capes can pose some problems when carrying two.
The Mackie's scuff quite easily and if you want to turn up with kit in good condition these bags are just the ticket. Helps keep the car in shape too

I bought a pair of these speakers 2 weeks ago. Very accurate monitors. Really natural sound, a lot of bottom end, really high resolution in very good price!! Nothing better on this (and much more) price range. My thanks to dolphin music for the very good communication and the very good service.
