52 Telecaster Reissue

Rodney Ferguson (March 29, 2012)
Rating: 7/10

First things first - Guy in video is actually playing a Hot Rod and not a 52 reissue. You can tell the difference between the neck pick-ups. Hot Rod has seymour duncan neck pick-up and 52 has fender vintage.

I bought the 52 in Jan 2012 and have mixed feelings about the guitar.

First impressions are that the maple used for the neck is probably the highest quality neck I've seen. Very very nice. However, the spec are vintage and a 7 1/4inch radius on the neck does make bending string that little bit more difficult. Recommend setting strings with a radius gauge.

The body of the telecaster is finished off a little too thickly for my taste. Could do with seeing a little bit more of the woodgrain from the ash coming through.

Tone is excellent for rhythm playing and very distinctive for lead. Think of solo in 'Sympathy for the Devil' for that needly sound you can achieve.

The fret's are a little on the slim side. This means that some of the grip required on the strings is compromised if you really want to dig in when soloing.

Absolutley Blown Away!!!

Rating: 10/10

My new Modern Player Thinline Tele has just arrived and I have just had 2 hours of playing it. What a magnificent guitar! Fender have found some great builders for their low priced guitars.
The build quality is second to none - playability out of the box is really low action and perfect intonation.
Dolphin have delivered me a dream of a guitar and I am absolutley blown away. Great service too - very helpful chaps.
I will be back for a modern player Jazz Bass now :)

A Bargain Bag!

Mark McKendrick (February 28, 2012)
Rating: 10/10

Really good made-for-the-purpose bass bag is this. Fender branded, or otherwise, the quality and utility provoded with this bag is superb. Loads of padding, loads of useful pockets and as good if not better than a lot of those bags made by non-instrument manufacturers that purport to better because they're specialist makers. Not so. This is a great bag and at just over twenty eight quid and absolute bargain. Perfect for your Jazzes and Precisions but don't discount it for carrying other basses of similar scale lengths. At around only four quid more expensive than the standard Fender Bass bag I'm forced to ask why the standard bag is even in the catalogue as it has nothing like the storage and funcionality of this bag. I can recommend this Fender Delux Bass Bag.

Valve Hybrid

Mr B (February 18, 2012)
Rating: 8/10

Great little amp! Bags of modulation effects, and the modelled drive sounds are all usable. I use this amp in practice driving a Marshall 4x12 and the volume only has to be set half way to be heard above the drummer and other guitar player. Line out to PA sounds very good, the only thing I'd like to see is a mid knob between the bass and treble for a bit more EQ control.

Fender Super Champ X2 Head

leesops (January 20, 2012)
Rating: 8/10

Just got the Fender Super Champ X2 Head and let me say it really is a kick ass amp.

IMHO this amp kills the Blackstar HT-5,Orange anything amp.

The amps sound very good not much for the clean sound but the gain on tap is unreal.

You can go from jazz, rock, metal and death metal.

The FX are very good too. I do not use many FX but they are there if you do and like to use them.

I really only like the high gain amp models theres 2 90 metal, metal 2000 (is based on the Fender Metal Head amp) but with tube sound is killer.

The clean sound or amps sims I'll only use to run my Pod HD500 into the amp.

Now the cons.

No FX loop.

No cable for usb recording ( not a problem as I use my Tascam 2488 Neo for recording)

Fender fuse software does not work with X2 tried 3 computers with different OS windows XP,Vista, windows 7.

Tried 3 different cables too and was not able to get fuse to work with the X2.

I know the cables was good cause my DAW program work for usb recording.

It would be killer if the amp had a FX loop.

Fuse software is no big deal to me as I have a Pod HD500 and the software works for it if I want to add more FX or different sounds.

End of review (sorry so short) I'am going back to playing this little monster.

For the money Fender has a real winner here killer sound, tones.

P.S.
Only reason I gave the X2 a 8/10 was cause of no FX loop and no usb cable.

Other wise it would of been a 10/10

Fender Strat MIM

Julian (January 1, 2012)
Rating: 10/10

I just got hold of one of these. Considering it is 3 times cheaper than the American version, this is a stunning high quality guitar. I can't imagine how the American one could be 3 times better except for extra gadgetry.

The neck is absolutely spot on, and the gloss maple fingerboard is finished to an extremely high standard. Actually the whole guitar is extremely well built and finished. It has a pure Strat tone and the differing pick up combinations really make for a versatile sound. I heard rumours of these mexican strats going out of tune, but nothing like that has happened. (It was in tune when it came out of the box!). I've lowered the action on mine and it plays beautifully.

Ok, so its Mexican..I wouldn't let that bother you. It hasn't been thrown together, the quality is too high for that and it still has everything you'd want from a Fender Strat (because it is one!). I have played hundreds of guitars and this is as good as any of them so far.

Highly recommended!!

Wonderful Amp

Dennis (December 25, 2011)
Rating: 10/10

I have pre CBS first issue black face Fender Princeton Reverb which I have use live and miced up since the early 70's. With my 70's Tele's and Strats other guitarists rave about my sound. I never got to hear it other than on stage but it always inspired my playing. I also have a '72 silver face Fender Twin Reverb. It is LOUD and clean. It can only be used at certain venues. So recently I purchased two, yes two! becuase my sons play now too , Fender Twin Amps. They are a new breed of Fender tube amps with I think 17 tubes! The circuitry and design is actually far far superior to anything Fender did back in the 50s an 60s. I think the sound I get set on the low 25 watt setting is equal to the sound of my Princeton Reverb and some. I use a Strat with Texas pickups, a Tele with James Burton pickups, a top of the line Peavey with Dave Gilmore pickups, a 335 Gibson and a Les Paul with DiMazio's. All of these guitars bring their own character to the Fender Twin. It is warm, lyrical, has a bite too as well as a growl. It is a pure sound too, so Fenderish. I have not had any problems with these and I have recently used them on gigs at London's O2 where other artists also used them and raved about them. I also have a JImi Hendrix Plex reissue with Marshall 1969 cabs and of course that is a different sound and style. I LOVE LOVE these amps and their versatility. Check out their circuit and features for patching in outboard effects. Amazing!!! Only ever had to change a fuse after it was left on on stage for a day and night for a huge show!

A great no frills amp. This amp has two controls - Volume and Tone. It works well because this is all it needs. I use it as platform for a gt6 which goes straight into the front end. I am a solo musician using backing but I am sure this amp would compete with a drummer but if I was doing the band thing I would be happy using two of these but you could always mike one up. I use a USA strat and tele which sound great with this amp.
This amp may seem expensive in comparison to some of the other amps of this size but it is very good value for money. If you want modelling and dsp etc. in an amp you will end up with a compromise.
What you pay for here is good quality and excellent sound. Great Fender cleans and if you want to use it in the traditional manner whack up the volume for lovely overdrive.
If you're in the market for a small amp you won't get much better that this at this price....Basic and great natural sounding.

Love this amp

Simon Towner (June 10, 2011)

This is a very cool piece of kit. I've bought effects pedals more expensive than this, and its a stereo multifx unit, a PC recording interface and a rather good modelling amp too - the sounds straight out of the box go from Hank and the Shadows to Muse-y weirdness via zeppelin and AC/DC. These sounds are pretty impressive, and that is before you've started to modify them to suit your taste. You can play along with your favourite tracks from an ipod or CD via a 1/8 jack input. You can also connect it up to your PC to gain more control of the amp modelling and effects with the software and usb cable supplied,
which pretty much deals with my only concern about this amp, that being that actually there are so many sounds on offer that tap for tempo buttons and rotary controls don't get the best out of it.
As an all round solution for practicing and experimenting, I find this ideal. It is also
surprisingly light for its size if you need to carry it somewhere! It probably doesn't have enough power to cope with more than rehearsals or a small pub gig, but thats why there are Mustang 2,3,4 and 5 models.
