Faderfox DJ2
I really cant fault this little gem of a control box!
Having been a vinyl DJ for 10 years I then moved in CDJ mixing for 5 or 6 years so I was a bit aprehensive about how I would take to laptop mixing.
I had used Traktor without a midi controller which I wasnt comfortable with at all. I then tried Traktor with my pals Hercules and Numark controllers but still felt it didnt provide the feel that a CDJ and and conventional mixer would give you. I then stumbled accros the DJ2 controller. I had heard that a select few big name DJ\'s such as Pete Tong always used this tool so I decided to investigate further.
I tried to find tutorials for the DJ2 controller on youtube etc but there wasnt much out there at all. Not only that but none of the retail stockists seemed to have a DJ2 that I could try hands on!
The cheapest quote I got was from Dolphin so I decided to jump in and get the box anyway. The manual isnt too long at only 20 pages and I had manage to get my head around all the controls after a week or so! Its control of the fader, pitch and effects etc gives the same feel as a conventional mixer so it was pefect for me! Im a pro DJ and now take this little box and my lappy everywhere I play! It had its first real test last week and I had taken part in a DJ Soundclash...which I ended up winning might I add :o)
Please be aware that you need a soundcard for the DJ2 to work! I had originally purchased it along with a midi-usb lead but that isnt enough as you need to be able to monitor the tracks in headphones and just a lead doesnt give you that option! I purchased the native instruments Audio Kontrol 1 Soundcard which is perfect and gives good headphone volumes when using in a club!
If you are considering switching to laptop mixing, the faderfox is an absolute must, nothing else touches it!!
Enjoy!

Faderfox DJ2
Not had my DJ2 long, but it\'s great. I\'ve used faderfoxes for while and the build quality on this unit is what I\'ve come to expect from FF - excellent! For use with traktor, the supplied setup files are spot on and I had full control over the software, just the way I wanted it 5 minutes after getting the DJ2 out of the box. I\'m also using it chained with 2 LV2s to control Ableton live. The setup files weren\'t much help here - understandable as it\'s primarily a traktor controller - though there are some sets for live on the disc which do include the DJ2 and 1 LV2, though not much use to me as I\'m using 2 LVs! However, integrating it into my live chain was very easy, and I was able to assign it just the way I wanted it with no problem at all - 20 minutes setup time. I\'m overall well impressed with the DJ2, as I have been with all the FF gear. Still not sure I\'ve got enough of them and may well be tempted to buy more!

Really really cool. Very well built, great battry life, nice feel to the buttons, and absolutly tiny! Very usefull in the studio as well as for live djing or performance. reccomended.
DJ2
I\'ve had my DJ2 for a while now, and it\'s a lovely little box. All the controls needed for laptop DJing and nothing else in a nice compact box.
I have been using an Evolution X-session for a while and while it\'s got a crossfader and plenty of pots it\'s not quite got enough buttons and it\'s not very intuitively layed out.
So I went all out and got a DJ2 and a DX2 and I\'ve not looked back. The DJ2 has all the controls you need for laptop djing, in a format which mimics a proper DJ mixer.
One thing at first stopped me, the Faderfox controllers are midi, not usb connected and therefore need a usb interface and power supply. The are designed to be powered using batteries (3xAA, supplied) which are estimated to run for about 80-100 hours before they need changing. So all you really need is a midi interface, which most sound cards have anyway.
I\'m glad I looked past the USB/midi thing and went ahead though, they\'re great controllers which are perfect for Traktor, in fact they come with traktor configuration files so setup takes minutes. You can daisy-chain them using midi so that you can fully control the 4 decks in Traktor. I bought a DJ2 and a DX2 and with them both in tandem I can fully control two decks without ever having to touch my machine (you can even use the pots to search through your playlist and choose tracks). Or I can have an adequate amount of control over 4 decks (I\'m still playing with this right now and it\'s great fun).
I give them 9 out of 10, the only downside is the slight fear of running from batteries rather than having them nicely powered by USB. So buy some rechargeables and make sure you put a fresh set in before you play anywhere live :).
Highly recommended.
