Edirol\'s UA-4FX is an excellent solution for any aspiring or seasoned musician looking for a highly-portable audio interface that holds its own amidst other offerings in its class.

The UA-4FX sports a phantom-powered XLR input for those interested in adding vocals to their productions, as well as a switchable 1/4th inch input, and a 1/8th inch powered microphone input. The UA-4FX is also equipped with MIDI I/O (using Fast Processing Technology which does help with delay from controller to application), the standard RCA I/O for analog signals, and an optical S/PDIF output with 5.1 surround sound support.

You may be questioning the necessity of the XLR input with the presence of the 1/8th inch input, but the flexibility that this unit provides far outweighs any feelings of redundancy.

Despite having so many input options, I will mention that the unit offers very little in the way of multi-channel recording capabilities. This should be expected from a USB 1.1 device (which is perfectly fine for recording one channel at a time), but is still a small let-down.

However, the positive elements of Edirol\'s UA-4FX audio interface far outweigh the negative. The unit is powered via USB which eliminates the need for a large AC adapter and increases portability. The interface comes pre-bundled with Cakewalk\'s SONAR LE, a lighter but still amazing version of the popular recording software. I had concerns about using the unit and the software with Windows Vista 32-bit, but the drivers are all easy to find and install and I\'ve had no problems whatsoever. All of these features caused me to have to look twice at the price, but it\'s true: the Edirol UA-4FX is an affordable audio interface with an awesome set of features.

This is a nice/cool device,Good for guitarist\'s and mic\'s.even good on effects like voice.I use RESON and the sound is excellent EVEN THROUGH 20W SPEAKERS,I reconmend buying this.???
