Wittner MT41 Metronome
The Good:
Portable; Slimline; User-Friendly; Reliable Battery (YEARS worth of use!); Inoffensive Pulse Tone; Switch Between Any Time Signature Very Simply; Sufficient Range In BPM/Subdivisions.
The Bad:
No Volume Control
The Ugly:
2.5 mm headphone port
From what my associates in electrical engineering tell me, the 2.5 mm jack is completely out of date and incompatible with 9/10 headphones and other aux/line variants you could want to plug this into.
Do Wittner make their own headphones? are they resonably priced and good quality? if so, brand loyalty could sort you out fine. If like me you want to have option as to what you use with your parts, espeically when this small-calculator-in-size-and-fuction metronome costs upwards of 25-30£ in the UK, then this aspect is terrible. One can buy adaptors but they are unreliable, prone to strain/breakage aroudn the jacks and often result in stereo/mono incompatibility.
Everything else : Fine
Headphone aspect: Wittner, what are you doing? Everyone knows that almost half the product\'s appeal is the ability to use it in inner ear or other headphones. Yes i know adaptors can be bought as previously stated but the absolute industry standard is 3.5 mm.
I am currently faced with making alterations to the jack/port (impossible given the MT41s shell casing) or using adaptors (see above) or worse still buying a whole new digital metronome.
There are many fine products to suit anyone\'s needs - all easily viewable on this very website with simple search function.
Best Wishes!
