Amazing for the money
I bought these speakers just under a year ago now, and they have NEVER let me down. They sound pretty awesome, are a nice size and the blue power light is ace. Having the power button the top is much better than most monitors, where you usually have to reach round the back! Sound really crisp even at loud volumes. Having studied music technology at a university level I can tell you these do the job. Would recommend them to anyone
M1 Active monitors
These monitors are great for small confined studio spaces, sound great and pack a bit of punch when needed. Alesis have gone to some trouble to make the monitors adaptable for smaller domestic studio environments with a number of settings on the back to take account of room size, putting the monitors in corners, etc. I've used Alesis monitors in my home set up and other studios for about 10 years now, and the M1 Active, while modestly sized and priced, are a great replacement for my older monitors. Highly recommended for what they are.
Best value
For the money you really can't go wrong with these. They have a decently flat response with little colouration, and go quite loud too if you're the sort who likes to mix at high volumes. Also, the size is great for those of us without massive dedicated desks (though you'll certainly want to put them on something to get them to ear level. Bass levels are fine and if you want to listen to music casually through them, just use a bit of eq and there will be more than enough thump to satisfy most.

I bought a pair of this two months ago, i´m really happy with them, they are grat for the price, and they are great for them selfs, i won´t get into the endles monitor discussion, this are no three thousand dollar monitors, and i don´t have a 10 000 dollar studio, i mix at home, in my bedroom, i live near a major street (Buses and stuff). I´m also an engeneer student, and have listened to many other monitors,m-audio, yamaha, behringer, tannoy, and this Alesis are joust great,You must know how to use them!, place them correctly, etc. and youll have no problem.
Awsome Sound and Compact
Overall: After much head scratching and sifting through various speakers, I eventually settled for these babies. I also looked at the Yamaha MSP3As and the Tannoy Reveal 5A Powered. I was specifically looking for a set of very compact speakers with a big sound but at an affordable price. This was my first purchase of monitors moving up from my rubbish HiFi equipment. The basic reason for choosing these speakers were that they ticked more boxes than the others in total but the size of them was perfect for my broom cupboard of a home studio. They were easy to set up and I was very impressed with the sound quality.
Price: These speakers feel like a steal they're so well priced. They were cheaper than the others which made these a less painful purchase. Ok they are lower end of the market but they enabled me to upgrade to more professional speakers without rendering me skint for 6 months. And with all the other expenses when just starting out, I figured I couldn't go far wrong. I was right.
Looks and Overall Quality: These look great, a nice smooth solid finish and a heavy feel. My friends have all commented! They also have cool blue LEDs on the top which look great when they are on, especially in the dark. The LEDs also flash red if your input signals start to clip, which is great if you notice and helps you to avoid damaging them.
Inputs: I bought these thinking that they only had 1/4" Jack balanced inputs like it says in the description but they also have XLR, a definite bonus. The gain controls also allow you to set your max volume to a nice production volume.
Other controls: These speakers are designed for small rooms so assume your most likely to be putting them near a wall or in a corner. Although we know this isn't good practice sometimes you don't have a choice. These speakers come fitted with Acoustic Space controls to allow you to adjust the bass response depending on your speaker placement. They also offer mid and hi range boost to help overcome other acoustic problems caused by room clutter and the distance you are from the monitors. The Lo range cut provides the facility to use the speakers with a subwoofer or for just monitoring on a simulated lower bass environment. These features are why I give these monitors 10/10 and result in a nice accurate flat sound, with options.
Conclusion: A great set of speakers, great sound, very well priced and cleverly aimed at small home DJ/production environments just like mine. They certainly do the job and more. Money well spent.
