Behringer OD/100
Erm. Mine must be broken.
Allow me to explain. While i still use the pedal, and regularly at that, it really doesn't add much gain to my sound. There is a definite difference in tone added from the Overdrive/Distortion controls though.
On its highest Gain setting, (which is where it stays) it gives a nice slightly driven Bluesy tone on lead stuff, and a slightly driven sound on chords, which I find useful as a boost when playing big band jazz with the full sax section playing in front of me. This is the sort of sound i can get from my amp's 'crunch' setting. (Marshall MG100HDFX), but that is not footswitchable so to have this sound in a pedal is useful.
It also adds a nice boost to the regular Overdrive setting on the amp, so i can get a decent solo boost. It helps when playing with overdrive and a wah pedal too, keeping the overdriven tone constant by placing it after the wah in my line up.
HOWEVER it cannot produce enough gain for metal. Perhaps mine is broken, or i'm not using it properly, i do not know, but regardless, it is far too weak for metal. If you're expecting a Boss DS-1, buy a Boss DS-1, not one of these.
But i still love it for weaker, 'crunch' sound. For that it would get a ten from me, but for what it is advertised to do it only manages a (generous) 7.
Review: Behringer OD100
I have bought a few pedals in my time, & despite its price this one is one of my top favorites.
I play alot of metal genres on my guitars, and i was looking for something mysterious - original and simultaneously heavy. This thing does it perfect. It works just as good on its own direct to a pc as it does running through an amp.
It has a smooth crisp sizzling sound which you can alternate nicely between the drive and insane blizard-like distortion.
It also works great through an amp, turning up the bass for an extreme stomping sound. I recommend this ickle plastic piece of purple genius to everyone, i think people will get as much out of it beginner and pro. Punk/grind/metal heads or some softer genre where you wanted a little added crispyness.
Treat it well, it's not for stomping - it must be admired.
9.5/10
