New for 2013: the Launchpad S is everything you love about the classic Launchpad Ableton Live grid controller, but updated to have bright LED controls, a significantly faster refresh rate, and to work with more software like FL Studio.
For DJs, gigging musicians, producers - we've even seen podcasters use it!
First, a little backstory for those not familiar with the original Launchpad, which re-defined the way we perform music with computers. The grid of 64 ‘launch’ pads allows hands-on control of music software like Ableton Live and FL Studio. Use it to launch and manipulate clips, trigger loops, fire off effects/samples and even control your mixer (eg. volume, effects sends, pan, mute and solo) and much more. A second user mode allows users to freely assign pads to control other software parameters.

There's no need for an external power supply - when hooked up to your computer or iPad via USB, it's fully bus powered. It weighs just around a kilogram, so is incredibly portable. (iPad connection requires Apple's Camera Connection Kit, sold separately).
Although the Launchpad S (or "Launchpad 2" as a few still keep calling it!) is designed to work perfectly with Ableton Live and FL Studio, it's MIDI Class Compliant so it works with any MIDI software on your Mac or Windows PC. Novation's award-winning 'Automap' control software also allows for compatibility with almost any music software.
Launchpad S integrates with FL Studio’s performance mode, so you can trigger clips and get hands-on control of FL Studio’s powerful new performance zone features. Use the buttons to sketch out beats with drum racks, and assign them to additional functions.
