Our latest amplifier offering stems from the success of our popular 100 watt SLA 1.For all of you “power” hungry audio enthusiests, we present to you the more powerful SLA-2. The SLA-2 is a studio linear power amp that delivers 200 watts of clean, clear power, and will help reproduce your mixes with near pinpoint accuracy inside a single rack space.

One of the top features on the SLA2 is ART’s SmartFan technology. In addition to a standard cooling fan, the oversized convection heat sinks located on each side of the SLA 2 silently directs heatflow outside the chassis. What makes the SmartFan “smart”? It’s temperture-controlled variable speed keeps the amp quiet and cool while performing at lower output. SmartFan kicks in only when the amp’s heatload rises creating an “on demand” cooling system in warmer environments.

With the already stellar level of sound quality, the SLA-2’s redesigned circuitry combined with the same straightforward user interface quickly and accurately packs the additional power punch you need.

We’ve also included a tamper proof faceplate for your fixed installations.

It’s long list of useful features measure up to an incredible value. The SLA-2 is perfect for pro, project and home studios, and is a perfect compliment for passive studio monitors.. ART SLA-2 1u Power Amp

\"Great all purpose amp for it\'s size. but not suitable for audiophile studio use, due to fan noise.\"

In studio use, the amp is badly let down by the fan noise. Although the fan is quiet -
(ART claim whisper quiet.) But it\'s debatable that you would want anyone to whisper through your mix. during more quieter/ambient passages of music the fan can be distracting. From the advertising you would assume the fan is off/silent until heat builds up and the fan kicks in. This is not the case. There are two modes for the fan. The first mode is quiet always on the second is full blast venting when your running things at high volume. Obviously the later is no problem. But if you mix quietly and occasionally turn the volume up to inspect your mix. The fan is always there. You just have to hope it\'s in key with your mix.
Also the blue LED is blinding and very annoying. recommend disconnection or reduce the brightness with a resistor.
Build Quality:
very impressed with the build – nice big heavy torriod, good heat sinks, all well constructed. just let down by the fan.
Sound:
little harsh in the mids and tops, but not nasty but still pleasant and musical. low end, is detailed, but a very tiny bit of lower mid making it 10% boxy sounding. nice stereo spread. overall a really good detailed amp at a good price.

easy to use everything you need.
Support:
emailed about the fan noise to see if i could replace it with something quieter - got no reply from ART
I would recommend buying this amp for installations, PA use or guitar backline. Or studio work that\'s mainly medium to loud volume work.
