Behringer MINIMIC MIC800 NOT GOOD
I bought this as a simple pre-amp with phantom power for my violin microphone. However I discovered that it distorted the original sound, and the level meters didn't work. Even for voice, I do not recommend this unit since you will lose the "live" aspects to your sound. Despite returning the item after a lot of confusion/delay from Dolphin Music staff, they maintain it was my fault for choosing the wrong item and I am still waiting for a refund two weeks later. I would have been better off keeping the unit since they are charging me a hidden £10 cost for returning it on top of the £6 for the original postage. I think for many items we are better off going to a music shop if possible to try before we buy, because an internet supplier cannot offer this level of service.

Last week in music technology, we where told we where to be recording vocals and using this pre amp to compare with other brands that lead the market. I laughed the behringer off thinking that compared to the KORG pre amps and lexicon models, it would sound like using two paper cups and a string to tie 'em together with a karaoke microphone picking what was left of the sound up but i was shockingly mistaken. I could not believe my ears when i heard the quality of the vocalist voice and the fact there was next to no noise coming through, especially from and unbalanced out! The limiter and tube sounds mixed produced what a sound engineer or vocal artist could describe as a musical orgasm. I think its fair to say i sure did like this product, for the amount of power and usefullness it provides at such as reasonable price, i would SERIOUSLY advise someone with the need to buy this, to buy this product. Im sure many others will agree when i say that behringer has once again delivered another high quality product for a low price.

Bought this to use with a laptop to do some remote recording, mainly spoken voice and needed a phantom power pre-amp. Easy to use and set up, quality good although my cloth ears can't detect a great deal of difference between the different models. Have used it to also record an acoustic guitar and again the quality is good.
