Clean, low latency 2ch in/out USB audio interface
While browsing DolphinMusic.co.uk for some stuff, I thought of trying this "Add your review" thingy with one of my dearest audio hardware products: Balance :)
Ok, this is the best 2ch USB audio interface I ever owned (I have 3 now).
The audio quality is clean and clear both at high and low volume levels and I get the lowest latency values when comparing it with my other audio interfaces at the same sample rates. Headphone output level is great too, btw :)
Balance's tight integration with Reason works like a charm. The handy Clip Safe and Meter/Tuner buttons and the fact that it also acts as an Ignition Key to hold my Reason 6 license, freeing one USB port. That's a huge bonus to me.
Another "bonus" is the included copy of Reason Essentials. It was the perfect gift for my daughter (Singer+Bass player) along with 1 of my older audio interfaces (eh ;).
I use Balance even as my default Windows 7 audio device (something I usually avoid doing with the other interfaces due to their "not so great" WDM drivers)
The amount of inputs is also huge thing to me. I have my main stereo synth, a 2nd stereo aux cable usually connected to my iPad or OP-1, 1 other mono synth (no guitar, eh ^_^) and 1 mic, all connected to Balance "permanently".
Pressing those selector buttons is quicker, safer and easier than constantly unplugging/plugging cables each time I need to change the audio source to record/sample/listen to :)
Quick Direct Out mode is also very handy. I use it a lot when simply playing and fooling around with my hardware synths, avoiding the need to boot up a DAW or even Reason just for that.
Been also using it with Live 8.3 with no issues.
The design, the big knobs and the high-quality package is also worth mentioning, btw :)
So, basically, I'm an extremely happy owner and user of this little black'n'red box.
Now, back to some headphone searching... :)
