I have owned these monitors for about two and a half years. The sound is very detailed right across the spectrum but they are a bit too loud for near-field work. The on-PC mixer has to be turned right down in order that the amp has something to do.

Most amps need driving to get the best out of them and these are no exception. When the sound level is turned low (non-headache / earache inducing) they sound quite washed-out. Wind them up a bit and they\'re amazing. Because that treble is so good, it starts to actually hurt at high volumes for long periods. It just depends how long you work with them and how close you sit. Personally, I think the balance of shear power plus high frequencies is too much for long periods of close work. Hence I regret buying them.

The worst is that one of them blew it\'s preamp stage recently (it was doing nothing special at the time) and in Googling around I realise that many other people have had reliability problems them. Since they\'re only sold in pairs, I either have to spend money on repairing one (only to wait for the other to go) or to junk them both now and buy replacements.

So, if you are looking for a near-field monitor and plan to sit within a metre of them, I can\'t recommend them. If you have a large studio and they\'re placed a metre or two away then you\'ll be rewarded with a great sound from these cheap active speakers. However, cheapness comes at a price...

Remarkably good bass end for a 6.5 in driver unit & tight. Ribbons are transparent all the way to the utmost highs, Ribbons not to all tastes but I Luv um and at this price buy um now. Going to add the 10s Sub next just to extend that Bass a Little more.
