Rubbish

I have been working on getting the bcd2000 working for 3 days now what a waste of time. i want it on pc dj as this what is promised to me not some rubbish software that wont do what i want an investment to start djing and what a waste of money stay clear unless you are better than me with computers as i have reconfigured computers for over 11 years and im struggling good luck. nice looking equipment just wish i could use it shame lol

i wrote a review on this console and i do stick by it... though i must stress to anyone who is planning to buy one of these to keep whatever s*** you can OUT OF THE FADERS... i've just had a week of stressing about why my pitch control was jumping around in the middle of a mix... and as you can imagine that can cause a whole lot of problems when bouncing around between tunes...

i am now probably going to discard my BCD2000 but simply because i have a macbook thus i'm going to purchase the BCD3000.

DONT BELIEVE ANY SITE THAT HAS DOWNLOAD FOR DRIVERS TO MAKE YOUR BCD2000 RUN WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE SUPPLIED SOFTWARE!

i have found SO many compatibility problems with all sorts of DJ software i've tried this hardware with... from programs like 'Virtual DJ' which apparently has the MIDI routing loaded in but after around 5 to 10 minutes of mixing the fader and other controls just stop working... even with traktor.

so if used with windows and the supplied 'B-DJ' software this console is the dogs b******s :)

bcd2000 problems

When you plug in turntables, there is a delay to the sound from the main speakers, which makes it hard to mix as you have to offset your mixing, if you record the mix using the software from turntables the mix is bad sound quality, not awful but not good. You also get sound skips/misses sometimes, but it still records ok(without the skips), but wouldn't be good for out live, quite annoying too, I am considering get shot of it....

BCD2000 analogue inputs

I forget to mention the amount of trouble i have had with the analogue inputs of the BCD2000...

First off there is major latency problems from input to main out and second there is only one line-in...

If you want to use other pieces of kit with this i recommend you don't use the BCD2000 as your main mixer...

BCD2000

I got my BCD2000 xmas '07 and i swear by it. I've been mixing jungle, house, breakcore, trance, hardcore, breaks, electro and more not only at home but also out live. I've found it to be thoroughly reliable and perfect for any producer/DJ who really cant afford to have your own tunes pressed or a decent pair of CD decks.

Though i would never use it with anything other that the supplied software as it has horrible compatibility issues it still does the job nicely for me. I can turn up at gigs with literally just a back-pack, set up in a corner and play! You can also load in any VST plugin you may have! I've gone as far as creating a bank of DJFX using 'Guitar Pro'!

I've found the only downfalls are the EQ which runs stupid frequency bands and the boost/cut is to dramatic for the amount you may need... A tiny twitch of the EQ rotary will pretty much cut half of its band!

Otherwise i well recommend it to anyone need to start somewhere on a budget :)

Poor Quality

Very Poor, does not deliver, freezing and poor sound quality, NO SUPPORT from Behringer, Discontinued as flawed design and replaced with the working??? BCD3000. Looks like the same unit to me with some of the flaws fixed. Tough luck if you have the BCD2000, they do not plan to fix the faults, take it back and get your money back!!!!!

Behringer B-CONTROL DEEJAY BCD2000 review

I bought this unit a little while ago it offers good value for money - you\'re getting an ASIO compliant USB sound card and a 2 channel MIDI/Phono and single input line mixer for not a lot of £.

There are plenty of knobs and buttons to map to your software package offering good control. The supplied software seems alright, but nothing special (those scratching \"jog wheels\" are pretty naff). I\'ve primarily been using the unit with Ableton LIVE! I found mapping over the MIDI controls a straight forward process and there are a lot of variations you can come up with. Overall sound quality from the built in sound card is pretty decent.

The overall construction of the unit is ok - it\'s not too bomb proof though so care needs to be taken (trust me). The supplied rubber feet are rubbish and will fall off. I recommend you buy some rubber feet for PC cases which are much better for the purpose. The faders \"feel\" a bit light and the x fader could do with being lengthier, but they do the job. I\'m not a fan of the +/- 0 \"click\" on the pitch fader sliders (on the BCD2000 or on technics 1210\'s!). I found using the pitch slider to control tempo on Ableton LIVE! extremely fiddly as a result of the \"click\" on +/- 0. I think Behringer should have considered people who are likely to ignore the supplied software and should have designed the rig with the 4 the up faders on the same level, 3 EQ knobs for each and no clicking! One of the play/stop buttons on my unit became half jammed quite early on (pre any transporting calamities..) but still functions ok.

If you\'re transporting this unit to play house parties etc. make sure you wrap it up well. After some pretty minimal contact with other equipment I\'ve managed to badly damage some of the knobs, skewering them at an angle into the housing (you\'ll probably not be surprised to hear that duct tape has once again brought something back to life). However if you\'re careful this thing will last - it\'s blatantly not designed to be carted about much and is much more suited to the bedroom DJ environment.

One aspect that hacks me off is the driver seems to need to be re-installed on a fairly frequent basis - I\'ve got the update patch, but in fairness this issue could be specific to my PC - haven\'t tested it out on another computer. Upon re-installation though it does always work.

This is a great unit to become acqainted with digital mixing. It’s a little flimsy, the 2 pitch fader clicks are annoying (maybe not so much with the supplied software), the controls aren\'t great in general... but c\'mon you\'re getting a lot of technology in a box for sub £120!!

BCD2000

Great value for money. There are a few bugs first off, but after updating drivers and mapping midi thru various programs it works in Traktor 3 - both as a MIDI controller and as an ASIO mixer. Have not had any problems with the USB audio interface at all. I would only buy this controller if you have quite a lot of experience with ASIO, MIDI and general problem finding skills like memory dumping etc.

It really isnt ready to be released, but with a bit of work will work perfectly fine. Have used two different BCD2s on two different systems, one running all night at a live event, and another performing perfectly well over FM. Worth it for the money.

BCD2000

The actual unit is quite good. Nice loose faders, plenty of function buttons. Buttons are clicky and not shaky. Particularly like kill eq function for all channels and 4 FX controlls at the top.

However pitch control is a bit inacurate and small, but you can still use it. If you're lazy there's always a sync fuction anyway Also don't expect a decent scratch from those tiny jogwheels, they are good for cueing but that's about it.

Sound quality is pretty decent as well. I've definitely noticed and improvement when moving from my integrated sound card Bear in mind that it has 4 channell audio card integrated, so you don't plug anything in pc apart from usb. Some users said that when they tried in club sound was flatter than with club mixer. But hey, you can't compare DJM-800 with this 160eu worth cheapo

The main problem that i had with it - software. The one that came in a cd was old and the unit kept crashing. I had to download newest drivers from beringer.com then it worked grand. There was XYLIO B-DJ program for it in a bundle designed specially for it. Again the default version was buggy and everything fixed when i've downloaded the newest one. That program is ok for mixing and does the job perfectly, but i missed all FX's of Traktor, so decided to set it up with it. And that was hell. Spent half day reading forums downloading plugins, controls, etc Finally it's working, but it was struggle to set it up. Heard that the newer unit BCD-3000 comes bundled with Traktor and is specialised for it, but didn't want to pay additional 100 to have a same unit just with better software.

Generaly it's really good thing for the price. Can't go wrong with it. It's allmost all plastic, so it might not feel very nice, but still, for this price it's grand!

A Must Buy! Fantastic Little Unit! Works In Vista Great Also!

The Behringer BCD2000 is possibly one of the best items I\'ve bought for DJing in a long time.
To be able to finally have all my tunes in one place on a 250GB external harddisk and DJ with my laptop via the BCD2000 is absolutely amazing my eyes have been opened! Doing a few gigs with the BCD2000, a ESI U46DJ and Virtual DJ on my laptop running Vista I found it to work a treat. Okay so you may have to map a few controls if you choose not to use the native BCD2000 mapping for V-DJ (which still work well) but it really does give you the tactile feel you want in a tidy little unit without looking like a toy (i.e the Hercules DJ Console MKII). This is the first Behringer product I purchased and I know they sometimes get some stick for build quality, but having said that the price of their kit is excellent, especially at Dolphin! (Cue some freebies!);o) I would definitly recommend anyone who\'s think about buying this unit to just buy it, The build quality is a heck of a lot better than I was expecting and I would be very suprised if anyone who has bought it didn\'t think it was worth the £103.00! The only thing I would say is once you\'ve purchased one is to download the latest drivers from Behringers website and install them and forget about using the B-DJ software if you\'ve already got use to Traktor, Mixvibes, Virtual DJ etc because it doesn\'t quite feel as good as the real deal. Oh, and if you\'re unsure whether or not to get the BCD2000 still or wait for the BCD3000 I would honestly say go for the 2000 as I doubt there isn\'t gonna be a great deal of difference between them apart from the button layout and naming being more Traktor friendly, the higher price tag and the support for the Mac. So there you have it - don\'t delay I say! Buy one from Dolphin today!

The ratings only go down to 1 because i would put it lower,just about to put it back in the box to go back and going to order a hercules. I use other behringer stuff and had no probs untill now. did not think much of the software that came with it either. It says on the box complements any other dj software, it has got more chance of running my BO???????????????ks than any other software ( one mans poison is another mans medican ).

Overall the BCD2000 has many quality features for the price of it you definately do get enough for your money.

You can add cool effects to your mix
You can prelisten to your next song, therefore being able to beatmatch perfectly through practice

Cons - Jog wheels are ery small and dont feel like real vinyl and on my set one jog wheels one is easier to turn than than the other

If you are strating out Digital DJing and want an afforable yet still quality product, definately get this and this is great for advanced DJs also

Poor sound quality, and cheapo pots but at the price to be expected. Though its fine for practicing or arranging sets.
The main problem though is the software which is pants... behringer would have been better off not developing it all and focusing on a) drivers for windows 2000 (yep if this is your OS forget it) and b) A MIDI configuration utility because getting the thing to yeild a reasonable level of functionality with anything other than the bundled software is a complete nightmare.

The deck controls are mirrored.

On the plus side it looks ok and doesnt cost too much but more effort on software, compatability or even a little after sale support would have made all the difference.

Behringer BCD2000

This is a real barggin DJ mix unit! Around the size of the avrage laptop, light weight and superb responce. Easy setup, works well with NI Traktor Studio2/3 includes plenty of functionality.

I'm using it in conjunction with Stanton Finalscratch2, Tracktor Studio 3, Faderfox Micromodul DJ2 & DX2 & Ederols USB to MIDI. This giving me a full set of hands-on control of many of the TDS features, the ability to play standard vinyl via the BCD as well as Stantons FS2 vinyl via my old Numark 19" mixer. This giving a true 4deck multi-effect studio feel.

It doesn't get on with wireless devices, had to disable this in the hardware settings. As the wireless caused PC crashes. However, with this disabled, it works fine with very responsive controls.

For the cost, it gives you some real cool mixing tools for less than some standard DJ CD units.

BCD2000

I too am very disappoint and found similar problems with the last two reviewers. When I installed the lastest drivers and B-Dj software it worked for all of 1 sound then large blocks of static noise introduced itself into my mix with the second song. I'm now using a hercules DJ Console MK2 which is stable and V-DJ has a great track record.
V-DJ allows me to use my own samples too. Something that I cannot work out how to do using B-DJ. Come on Behringer get your act together! I cannot even use this machine as a backup.

I do not own one (so take no notice of the Rating) but wrote to Behringer and thought I'd post their response.

My enquiry:
"I am about to order a BCD2000, but much has been written on the internet criticizing the BCD2000 software -

1. that it requires intermediate freeware in order to use the headphones output,
2. that the software regularly freezes,
3. that when scratching you cannot play the tune normally, and
3. that the included software can only play 192 kps mp3 files, no other format.

Behringer Cust Sppt response:

"here´s what we can tell:

1. - WRONG the headphones out works fine, and in "advanced mode" can be switched to channel 3/4
2. - WRONG - if your PC / Laptop uses the Intel 82801FB/FBM chipset, please update to newest driver from website.
3. - absolute untrue
4. - WRONG - it plays nearly every format - certainly all those which are "in general use".

BCD 2000

I wanted this product to be everything behringer said it would be and it nearly is. But its not. They didnt say that the device would be temperamental initially and would then fail to work and crash your system every time you open the application. This is what it has done for me. For £125 you don't expect a beautifully built, state of the art system but if it worked, that would do. It doesn't. I'm annoyed.

BCD2000 fix with 3rd party software for T3

Continuing from my first review, I have found that a 3rd party software known as BOMEs MIDI TRASLATOR v1.5 (available from www.bome.com, sorry Mac Users, this one is PC only) is the solution to fix the problem with scratching MP3s with the jogwheels - I found the solution and have already put on the Native Instruments forum the templates for T3 and BOMEs MT - you will also need MIDIYoke program from www.midixo.com (which is freeware) to aid you in 'virtual MIDI connecting' from the BCD2000 in to BOMEs and thru MIDIYoke into T3 - long winded, and a definite pain to start with, but if you read up on NI's forum which I regularly post to, you will find a lot of other people catching onto this, and getting their BCD2000 to work with T3 via the 3rd party stuff. It's a shame that Behringer believe that the Xylio DJ software they supply works well with the BCD2000 - it does, but it's no where near as ood as T3. Another note - you will need the upgrade drivers from www.Behringer.com to ensure that your unit works a lot more solidly, as it should have in the first place.

what can i say well first of all i had a behringer vmx100 mixer but was not happy with it the gains on it was way to low but i put it down to a cheap mixer so.When i so the bcd2000 i thought here i go again do i get another behringer or leave it been and get something else.I was looking at reviews on the bcd2000 and yes they did sound good apart from the software but on the 18/5/2006 i went out and bought one.When i got it home i unpacked it first thing was the design it looks good and has everything you need for dj work.Then i tryed the software which i wasnt looking forward to cause of the reviews,but i dont no what the fuss is about it works perfect no crashing it does what it says on the box for me its CLASS.The midi said of things for is 100% theres no delay form moving faders,nobs or pressing the buttons on the controler,to what happens on the screen it just like having a real mixer the gains on the controler are 100% the scratch wheel is real good ok i might be able to do all of scratching like with real decks but if i recorded a mix and did some scratching you couldnt tell and more i use it the better it would be.The controler you can program for othere dj software,the build is realy good lets have it right the bcd2000 is around £135 and its from behringer yes like me you might have had crap stuff before from them but trust me you shouldnt be disapointed with the bcd2000 for me the software and the controler 100% well done behringer and thanks.

I was excited as I took this out of the box because it looks just the thing for integrating mp3s seamlessly into my setup, and my DJ mixer is dead so I needed a replacement.

Sadly, it doesn't deliver on its promises. The audio drivers are very unstable. The sound drops out. It could not be relied on in a live setting.

The software it ships with has at least one huge bug that makes it completely unusable - it inserts big chunks of noise at the beginning of some tracks.

People have had some success getting it to work with Traktor, just using it as a MIDI controller. But I needed to use it as an audio mixer too.

So if you want a fairly plasticky MIDI controller, this could be right for you. But I think it's quite shocking that a company released a product that is defective to this degree, and I am not willing to sit around with a useless lump of plastic waiting for Behringer to get their act together (if they ever do).

If like me you have been salivating at the dream of a dj mixer that can do it all and have imagined that this is the product that will deliver .... then WAKE UP!
It's not quite what it says on the tin.
It has heaps of features and heaps of bugs/problems... really it's hard to know where to start... so I wont.
My advice is dont buy untll Behringer issue an update on the software. The unit is fine for the price. Some say Behringer equipment is too tacky but for under £150 what do you expect. No, the snag is in the software and it stutters stalls and behaves too unpredictably to be anything more than a six year old might expect from a toy rather than a realistic product even for the amatuer house party DJ.
Sorry to dissapoint - shame on Behringer.

Finally...

I ordered my BCD2000 from here at Dolphin 8 months ago and they've been exceedingly patient with my ever increasing levels of frustration; no review of the BCD2000 would be complete without mentioning that it shipped so late that many had given up hope of it ever shipping! It's here though, finally.

What you get in the box is the BCD2000, which is a combined midi controller and soundcard that interfaces with a laptop via USB, a CD with the Windows drivers for the BCD and also the B-DJ software produced by Xylio, a power lead and a usb lead.

The controller itself is well built for the price, it's plastic and not heavy so some have criticised it as flimsy, but it looks the part in a way the Hercules controller never did. It's about the same size as a laptop and the slightly metallic blue finish looks great alongside the Sony Vaio laptop I decided to pair it with.

Getting the drivers and software installed was simple enough, I started from a clean install of Windows XP Professional to be on the safe side and all went fine. The B-DJ software came straight up and ran fine - Iwas up and mixing some old House tracks within about half-an-hour of opening the box. I played for about 45 minutes and was pretty pleased. Others are experiencing issues with audio dropouts, but I found no problems with the audio.

There are a couple of downsides though. The jog wheels are very close to the volume and pitch sliders which reside eitehr side of them. This means that it is very easy to move those accidentally when using the jog wheels - practice should hopefully over come that.

More importantly there are no controls for handling the playlist. This means that to load the next track you have to swing over to the laptop. This tallies with the fact that the B-DJ software lacks any real collection management - disappointing.

Next up was to try the BCD2000 with Traktor. Over at Native Instruments there's been work done already around creating the midi mappings for it, but with Traktor 3 supporting 4 decks the mapping there is a little too complex for my two deck mindset. About an hour's work mapping the midi controls in traktor had everything up and running for two deck use except the jog wheels.

Overall, for the price, there's nothing to touch this controller.

BCD2000 - review

After awaiting 16 months since Behringer last had an actual unit on show at a Sound Exhibition (Jan '05 - a friend of mine went and said that he actually seen one for real!!), I finally managed to get my very own BCD2000 to go with it's brothers the BCF2000 & BCR2000. Even managed to get mine on eBay last week (12/04/06). After getting it delivered via courier, I had to rip open the outer packaging to make sure that yes I actually had a BCD2000 in my possesion. Yes, it was there, grinning in the box. After 2 train journeys to my fiance's carrying my latest addition to my B-control fleet, I began to unpack and hook it up to my Laptop, as this was the setup I was intending for getting back to deejaying - been backing up the vinyl so I can now carry 11 years worth around on a hard drive instead of lugging crate upon crate of records. Installing the driver software was easy as expected (similar to the BCA2000 setup procedure), drivers all went into XP no problem, system asked for the BCD2000 to be turned on. Strapping in the USB lead and firing up the unit was also childs-play. XP detected the unit properly, now all I wanted to do was mix some beats.....

The general appearance of the unit is just as robust as the BCF2000 & BCR2000, plus the volume faders & crossfader feel perfect (nice'n'loose) for deejaying who need instant level and chopping up "dem fine beatz". All other control dials have 270º/280º rotation points, so you have either a minimum or maximum point, without worrying about any endless rotary points and software problems. All the buttons feel like buttons should, when you press them you know you have. The jogwheels are a decent size, especially on a unit of only 13inch square. Mic Socket and levels are in the right place, out of the way of the mixing area, plus with its own EQ banding which is great to filter out those low of someone with bassheavy tones, or cut the squeak of fast-chat mc's who jibber on at warpdrive (no offense to those who have lyrical skill, just the ones who sound like chipmunks on helium!). Around the back of the unit it's a simple affair, 2x RCA phono inputs with a grounding socket, a phono/line on-off choice switch (if you want to use auxilary devices like CD players etc.), USB socket, power socket. Simplicity at its best, after all, we only want to play our finest tracks, right? The software control panel determines the usage of the outputs, might be a mad one if you did want to use vinyl, mic and mp3s/wavs all together - practice would make perfect after getting used to it. The headphone area (mix / level / output type) is also in a great place, opposite to the mic area and out of the way of the mixing area - at least you wouldn't turn down an effect by mistake! The volume output is clean and loud also, using a 1/4" jack socket reknowned in the dj industry (read on later for audio problems...)Overall, the layout and appearance is great, even will fit into a standard 80-LP record box along with a 15in Laptop and all the leads. Spot on for all dj's who want to cross over or start to use digital as well as analog. At least the record box won't be made redundant.

The control panel for the BCD2000 is simple enough, the manual and the control panel does have brief details of what the device is setup to do - B-DJ mode is a trigger style setup (no LEDs bar the power light will come on), while Advanced is alike a state-mode ('hold' on buttons with LEDs). All well and good so far, even has a latency setup which goes from 3ms (or was it 2? cannot remember, writing this at work), all the way to about 42ms. To me that is more than adequate to use 'on-the-road' for Drum&Bass mixing.

Installing the B-DJ software that comes with the unit was also straight forward enough, even without reading the installing instructions in the manual provided. Since it's supposed to work 100% (and it does, but read on...), I thought that I'd begin with that software, to make sure the unit does play properly. Voilá. All good on looks so far, presented with a nice 1024 x 768 laout of the software, very much in the BCD2000 skin. I had to try it... reaching for the left jogwheel to emulate scratching, the screen moved in unison! What a great feeling that waiting this long I'd be smashing out the mixes left right and centre. I dropped in via the file manager pane of the B-DJ software (no drag & drop from a desktop / external folder available yet) and started to play... euuurgh!!! some mad squalking sound that definately was not my track, then a cut back to how the track should sound. Even a dirty great waveform had appeared on my track. I checked the track in an external sampler program but all was well. Investigated the problem & nailed it. The B-DJ software only works with 192kbits MP3s 44.1kHz. Because I'm backing up my vinyl to the best quality, my tracks are usually 256kbits - B-DJ won't support this hense the scrambled mess at the start. Checked again with a 192 and all good. Ok, that problem sorted. Played the track and scratched it..superb!! Got another track on deck 2 and started to mix the tracks. All good, until the program froze up. Odd, and disheartening. The the program unfreezed. Very odd. Still ok for a few more minutes, then another freeze up. Now frustration began to set in. Tried all different setups using the BCD2000 control panel, all in vain and with no joy. The freeze-ups were still occuring randomly. I then go and check the XYLIO.com forums for a solution. After a qucik visit and check on some posts, it appears that the software has very little if any support for their programs. Quite a few people on their also asking help, but no responses. Not very customer friendly, which is a shame considering the software may be quite good and does work with the BCD2000 (when there is no freezes), instant setup, no configuration needed as it's all done for you. All you should be able to do is get on with mixing and chopping. Which you can't if you get audio dropouts / loss of hair through frustration. So on to the next test program, Traktor 3. The BCD2000 is supposed to be able to be setup with any other 3rd party dj software (as the manual says), but you do need some configuration to get it running right. After reading up on the Native Instruments forum, which I have also been posting up on (link: http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum_us/showthread.php?t=34513 - Phil on this thread knows his stuff, and is a great help on the forum, being a mod as well does help, some very interesting info on there too if you are considering buying one of these units), a few other people have mentioned the audio dropouts as well as configuration of the unit's jogwheels with Traktor. Seems like Behringer have done a deal with XYLIO to get the setup right for their software, but Traktor fans have to use third party MIDI software to get anywhere with the jogwheels. Being an avid fan of track-the-fault-find-the-solution, I began to read up on using Bome's MIDI Translator and MIDIYoke, two essential programs that are needed to send better communation to Traktor from the BCD2000. Because of the way Behringer have setup their own MIDI config, you will have problems configuring up the correct signals needed in Traktor. Took me a couple fo days to work out and cofigure to how I want. Still had audio dropouts though. One problem down, one to go....

I do have knocking around a GameMusePocket External USB 5.1 soundcard by Hercules, which I was using with my PC primarily for mixing Traktor. After spending a day away from the device to clear my thoughts and think of new strategies, the idea of using a totally separate minimum-of-4 output card with the BCD2000 alongside hit me, and that in turn was the next test. Getting home from a busy day of renovating (it is Easter after all, the Uk's busiest time for the decorating apparently so my fiance told me), I put my idea into action. Without much suprise, but lots of pleasure, the system stopped freezing up and the BCD2000 was and still is working a dream with this new setup. Seems like I've cracked my problem now, all that is left is that Behringer find some time to create a fix, as I would rather use one unit with the laptop opposed to 2 or more just so I can get to mix like i was with vinyl. I will however now not be able to use the headphone socket of the BCD2000 since no sound will be passing through it, and I will need another external mixer so I can hear the two separate pairs of outputs (I'm not willing to mix in mono, even if most clubs are a mono rig). Still, this has not detered me from my purchase. I'm over the moon that I can actually use it how I would have intended, even though a slight getaround is needed. If the BCD2000 driver gets updated to become more stable, this will help clear up any other issues, since there are no other problems elsewhere.

As Phil has mentioned on the Native Instruments forum (linked earlier), if you don't mid 'hacking' at your unit and messing about the 3rd party MIDI configurators to get the jogwheels working, then by all means get one of these devices. If you're lost in all the jargon and programming, then maybe hold of on this device, wathc the posts on the forums and await on a driver update for the audio side of things hopefully in the not so distant future.

Reason why I gave this unit an 8 is due to the fact that I know what I was looking for, liked the aethestics of the unit itself (wanted a matching array of devices, does look swish with the BCR & BCF), the layout of the device and general setup procedure is relatively easy. Reasons for not getting the extra 2 points is because of the audio driver dropouts (maybe Behringer should have waited a little longer, but if they waited too long, they may lose out to other dj-control surface manufacturers), plus the other major factor was the delay of release since they first issued details on their website back in January 2005 (which kept getting put back until now). Also did not score higher because of users who do not understand what is needed to get this device working properly may be dissapointed in the not-so-easy setup. Since Traktor 3 is the biggest contender for the DJing software race, most users (I presume) would prefer Traktor over any other dj software, especially over software that appears to have no real support at present (correct me if I am wrong, XYLIO).

So, briefly, a good controller that's perfect for dj's new & experienced alike, shame about the software not being 100% just yet. Good for people who do want to use it, and are willing to be patient enough to setup the workround software, down-side is that even though you can scratch, however bad for turntablists, since it isn't setup to scratch-while-you-play, how all dj's who use and scratch vinyl would expect. Saying that, the pro's are that you can mix with this unit and that you may never need to bring out kilo's upon kilo's of tracks that never see light of day (since we cannot get all tracks in a dj box mixed in one night!).

Anyone who does want one of these, please read the Native Instruments forum regarding setup and other software links, as I will be posting up templates that do work for me. Google 'Bome MIDI translator' and 'MIDI-XO' or 'MIDIYoke' for the 3rd party MIDI software.

BCD2000

After what seems an etertinity I finally recieved my little blue box of delight and rushed home from the couriors trying to open the box as I drove.
Out of the box it looks damn sexy as only a new piece of electronic equipment can.
The install was painless and didn't take too long, The software that ships with the unit is OK with really nice filter, and thew ability to add DXI effects is a rather nice touch however, if you plan on playing anything above 150BPM you may encounter some problems especially when trying to sync or beat lock, sound quailty is great on my home HI-FI and in my studio but the real test will come next week when i have to play out on a real system with it.
If you are planing on using it with Virtual DJ or Tracktor you may be in for quite a shock unless you are adept at using a midi translator, which sadly i'm not, the bass cut on deck one sends the same midi signal as the pitch control on deck 2 and other buttons and sliders are also doubled up on the midi CC numbers, this is a real shame as i love Virtual DJ and have been playing out as a professional for 2 years using this and my trusty Hercules controler.
Other things to note is the abilty to hook up your real decks to this little blue box and mix between mp3s and vinyl and still being able to use the effects on your round spinning plastic things.
Over all a good little box and for the money you can't really go wrong and the support for other DJ software will come sooner or later as more people get there hands on it
