Truth B2031A Monitors
I don\'t think that i can give these monitors the justice they deserve in this review. they truly are an awesome piece of equipment that any home or even maybe a professional studio shouldnt go with out. i really haven\'t heard clarity like it.
i bought them for my home studio and nothing more... but now i can\'t bring myself to listen through anything else. i use these all the time for listening to music.
for the price you really couldnt do any better... and i really mean that.
THESE SPEAKERS ARE THE BEST IN THIS PRICE RANGE.
sure you could spend a few more hundred greens and get something that is obvioulsy going to be better in quallity but if you only have a limited budget i owuld definately say these are a must have.
they are very sturdy and well built, look proffesional and stylish. very simple to operate and set up. and they are so flat its crazy, perfect for mixing music down. the response you get from it bass wise is amazing... i was a bit cautious about that when i bought these as i was used to have a 2.1 unti with a separate woofer.. but i wouldnt add anything to these as they are.
BUY THESE MONITORS!!!!
Truth B2031A Monitors
I bought these monitors about a year or so ago after reading many rave reviews. When they finally arrived, I couldn't believe the size and weight of them. Compared to monitors in other studios I've seen they really are HUGE. Since weight is generally seen as a way of judging quality in electronics you know you have some serious monitors here. They're virtually indestructable, they're built solid and you can really notice this from the moment you unpackage them.
The overall look of the monitors is pretty subjective, but in my opinion they look fantastic. The German manufacturer has really achieved the industrial look that you see in most german engineering, which I really like. They look mean and make my home studio look cooler than it's ever looked.
Sound-wise, these monitors really shine. I think the sound is a real selling point. They're as flat as you can possibly get, which is perfect for mixdown. Since I was used to working with a sub prior to buying these, I was at first worried about the lack of a subwoofer, but to my surprise these things really rock and are LOUD. They're also crisp sounding and are really sharp at high or low volume. Overall, I'd say they give the best representation of the audio spectrum for a pair of speakers this price and dare I say, maybe even for speakers twice or thrice the price of these babies. The only thing you may dislike is the high end; the high end is very bright and you might want to turn it down using the switches at the back. Apart from this, they really are accurate. I still use them to this day for mixdown and mastering music of all styles.
Overall I really liked this product. I loved the look of them, the sound is the best I've ever heard for speakers this price and the price says it all.
If you need a decent pair of monitors for a budget price then look no further, even if you have twice this amount of cash spare, I suggest you consider these before you make that final purchase.
Great value, minor issues
These are my first monitors so i cant judge these on others. The first thing i noticed was how heavy these things were! Theyre big too and look the buisness. I got them running through my EMU 0404 soundcard and what a difference they have made.
Iv been producing dance music using a hifi and now i can see why you really need monitors. These monitors sound great i can hear allot of detail and the bass is well presented even at low volumes. They are also loud but the best thing is they are still crystal clear at full volume. The stereo field is truley great with these and thats one thing i noticed straight away. Theres also switches on the back to adjust the speakers to your room or to your sounding preference which is a good thing for a home producer like me.
Of course things cant be all that good at this price can they? Well, there is this problem of a loud thud when you turn them on and especially off i have also read this else where. Another thing, theres an option auto power off switch at the back that kicks in after 5 minutes of silence, when i use it the one speaker turns off fine but the other one thuds as if theres a bad earth then the red light comes on which is the saftey cut out, i then have to switch them of then back on again which is a bit of a pain but you could just leave the auto power off. I dont know weather that fault is at my end or it is the speaker but i will investigate. Another thing is when the speakers are on i can hear some white noise coming from the tweaters? Im not sure if this is normal because iv never owned a pair i only notice it close up though, but again i will investigate.
Overall im very pleased with these and im sure i will be making good clean mixes with them and for £200 you cant ask for anymore a solid construction, plenty of clarity, plenty of bass and a good stereo field its a steal!
So i would like to thank dolphin for A1 customer service (helping me choose):)
Behringer Truth 2031A
I didn't think you could buy something as good as this for such little money! We chose the Truth 2031A's on recomendation and to be honest I was a little sceptical about all the claims I'd heard for them. The decision to buy them was finally clinched following reading an artical in Sound on Sound by their revuer, Paul White, who raved about them. We were looking for some fairly punchy, accurate powered cabinets for a small (12'x 6') control room. They also needed to be cheap! We floated the cabs on suspension stands about seven feet apart either side of the desk with the backs of them almost touching the 8' x 4' of glass between the control room and live room - not an ideal situation! When we first fired them up we left all the rear settings flat which left us the option of trimming the cabs to suit the room if needed. We haven't touched them since. From the word go, the 2031A's have delivered exactly what we were loking for - a fairly smooth acurate delivery, even at high levels without the harshness you would expect from budget monitors. We've been staggered at the bass punch available from such small (8 3/4")drivers and the crystal clarity at the top end of the range. The internal amps run pretty well silently with no noticable hiss at maximum levels. Construction is very good and in sheer weight alone you feel like you are getting your money's worth! These are ideal monitors for use in a larger home studio or medium project studio - especially if you are working predominantly with young rock musicians, as we are. These cabs like to be run hard and loud, and when they do, they will give you a pretty good idea of what your recording will sound like on a cranked up stereo or played back through a house PA. I really like these, they are very 'Rock 'n' Roll.
