Allen & Heath Mixwizard WZ20S

The WZ20S was a truly ‘customer-led’ project. A&H were getting a lot of emails and calls from small broadcast outfits, keyboard fanatics and hire companies who had lots of stereo sources to mix, but couldn’t find a good quality console that could do the job without costing an absolute fortune.

They couldn’t resist a challenge like that, so a few months later, WZ20S was born. As well as accommodating an incredible 40 inputs to 2 independent mixes, this ‘Wizard can be tailored for the job with a host of options like fader-start and turntable inputs.

Features

• 4 mic / line channels with switchable 4 band EQ, HPF, individual phantom power, 6 auxes, 'on' switch with led and 100mm smooth action fader. A direct out and insert using all-metal TRS jacks are provided
• The WZ20S has 8 dual stereo input channels. A [RCA] and B [TRS] jacks have separate gain controls and on switch. Sources A and B can be selected individually or mixed together, allowing simultaneous connection of up to 16 stereo devices. The channel has a 4 band EQ. Up to 4 stereo RIAA preamps may be fitted as an option
• There are 2 assignable stereo mix busses, Mix1 and Mix2, each with inserts, 100mm stereo fader, and 12 segment, 3 colour bar metering. Mix1 can also be set up as a subgroup feeding Mix2. Mix2 includes a second stereo out (TRS) and a mono sum out (XLR).
• 6 auxiliaries, switchable pre/post fade in blocks: 1-4, 5-6. Internal option to configure channel L signal to odd auxes and R signal to even auxes. Aux masters are rotary controls with TRS outputs. The aux busses can be monitored in mono or related stereo pairs
• Mono channels have separate controls for sweep and cut/boost on mid bands. HPF @ 100Hz is switchable
• [TRS] line inputs, with internal option for +4dBu, routed via level controls and underpanel switches to Mix1 and Mix2
