Review
From Alesis i\'ve only ever had one of their products which i used once or twice but from see\'ing this mixer it\'s impressed me but what did put me down a little was the lack of some of the fx on it like the pitch, it wasnt just putting the changed voice in but your voice aswel so you could hardly hear the fx just mainly your voice aswel as it tends to get alot lot hotter than my old mixer which was a powered mixer 6 channel..
Alesis Multimix 6FX
Alesis specialise in supplying top of the range audio gear at reasonable prices and this product is no exception.
The first thing that you will notice when getting it out of the box is just how rugged and well constructed the mixer is. For its size it is fairly heavy which means that it will withstand large amounts of force superbly.
When you plug the mixer in you are greeted by a green LED and a numerical display counter. This brings us onto the most fantastic thing about this mixer. The built in effects system is astonishing for a unit of this price and size, it really is of a quality you would expect from something three times the price. The effects are very handy as well as for recording they offer a post mix alternative which is suitable for anything from vocals to guitar, the reverb option especially helps to thicken up dry and simple 'line in' tones.
There are 100 effects to choose from including flangers, delays, reverbs and chorus effects.
As well as the recording aspect though, the mixers effects can be used when the mixer is hooked up live to a PA system again this can be interesting for gigging situations where bands need to change their sounds without the hassle of lots of outboard effects.
The interface of the system is also very simple to use as there are 3EQ options to play about with and effects mastering, as well as the gain options on the two preamp inputs.
I find that ease of use really is the best thing about this mixer, the simple and friendly interface coupled with the effects system and outboard monitoring and controls really is its key selling point.
The only disadvantage i could find with this mixer is the lack of sliding faders as sometimes the knobs can be slightly less accurate, but at the end of the day you cant grumble for the price.
I would highly reccommend this mixer for anyone who is a home recording or small key gigging scenario.
