With Roland’s groundbreaking SuperNATURAL Piano technology onboard, the DP990F brings a new dimension of acoustic piano realism to the digital domain. A great-feeling PHA II keyboard is built into a stylish, space-saving cabinet with a unique lid which can be used as a music rest when open and as flat surface when closed. It’s a new breed of musical sophistication and functional style. The DP990F is available in Medium Cherry and Satin Black finishes.

SuperNATURAL Piano
The DP990F is enhanced with Roland’s breakthrough SuperNATURAL Piano Technology. Three key elements are dramatically improved: velocity response, note decay, and key range behaviour. Where previous sample-based technology created coarse “stair-step” gaps in velocity and key range and unnatural looping in note decay, SuperNATURAL bridges the gaps with perfectly smooth and natural three-dimensional sound and response.
 
Functional style
The DP990F impresses with its sleek, modern design, featuring a solid, soft close safety lid which can be used as a music rest when opened and as a flat surface when closed. With two beautiful finishes to choose from: Medium Cherry and Satin Black, this instrument looks great in any setting.
 
Authentic grand-piano feel
The DP990F is equipped with Roland’s acclaimed PHA II keyboard with escapement. The keyboard yields a heavier touch in the lower range and lighter touch in the upper, providing lighter resistance for pianissimo passages and stronger resistance for fortissimo. The escapement architecture of the DP keys reproduces the characteristic “click feel” of a grand piano for the ultimate in realistic performance and expression.
 
USB enhanced
USB compatibility opens a world of exciting add-ons and extra functionality to the DP990F. Play along with audio files or Standard MIDI files directly from a USB stick, or layer pre-recorded music from a commercially available audio CD with your performance by connecting a USB CD drive (Roland CD-01A, optional). Your audience won’t believe how much music is coming from a single instrument.
 
New twin-piano mode
The ‘twin piano’ function allows you to split the keyboard left and right into two regions, each with its own middle ‘C’ and damper pedal. Two players wearing headphones can then play completely independently without hearing one another (Individual Twin-Piano), a powerful application for “partner” lessons or piano labs.
 
Continuous detection pedal
This feature reproduces subtle changes in the sound according to damper contact with the strings, and controls the amount of release vibration when the pedal is stepped on gradually.
