For the money the best studio mic you can get
I got the first Røde NT-1 5 years ago because I wanted a good medium grade workhorse. This had great reviews, so I got it. Apart from being a bit on the base side, it is super clear and has a very warm sound. I will continue to recommend this to everyone who are looking to spend a 150 pounds max. As far as I am concerned, this is the best mic that this level of money can buy. With the \"old\" technology that\'s in there, technology which is tried and tested over a decades, you are sure you are getting something that does what it says on the box.
Rode NT1-A vocal pack
Earlier this year i decided to move up from my Fostex digital home 8-track to using my computer as a Digital Audio Workstation.
While i was at it i felt it was time for a decent mic, and so i began to read reviews and get some advice for my price range. I went for the Rode NT1A Vocal pack, and i have not looked back.
This pack gives you all you need to start getting excellent results that impress.
The mic has a wonderful sound, is remarkably quiet and has proved very easy to set up and use with my computer.
I don\'t know if this is unusual, but i found i had to crank up the gain on my M-Audio Fastrack pro USB interface quite a bit, so i started using my ART Tube MP prior to that and this sounds just great to my ears. (Both have phantom power, you only need phantom power on the first pre-amp).
A nice little video gives you some great tips, like singing across the mic without a pop shield you can experiment with.
But it is the detail and warmth of the mic sound that i really like here - crystal clear, warm, detailed.
For the price i think it\'s superb.
