Boss VE-20 Vocal Performer Pedal Reviews
This is a very nicely made unit, all in all it does what it says on the tin. Although \'tin\' isn\'t exactly how to describe the very robust metal case that houses the workings of this stompbox.
Navigation of the unit is in typical Boss style and really is pretty easy to get to grips with.
Most pre set sounds are good, although I think there could be some more stunning vocal pre sets. The actual number of pre programmed vocal sounds are actually not that many and I think Boss missed an opportunity here.
The real reason for this unit existing is for the harmony feature, and this does work very well, certainly on par with units by TC and better than Digitech. The best thing is you don\'t need to plug a keyboard or guitar in to use it. The quality of the harmonies are generally good although you still get a robotic overtone going on particularly when performing more sweeping pieces. What I find works best when recording is to use the harmonies as a thickening to the main vocal and then add real harmonies panned left and right, when mixed all together it sounds stunning!
Live, I don\'t know as i havn\'t used it, but I imagine it will be very easy to use.
Many will want to use the auto tune stuff but I don\'t use it generally, seems to do all the modern stuff though!
Looking forward to using the loop feature, should be fun.
If there were more great vocal pre sets this could easily score a ten, but as it is an 8 is still agood score.
