Keyboard players who want to work with software on their computer will find that the LPK25 gives their laptop the keys they need to express themselves anywhere.

The LPK25 is a scaled-down relative to the MPK series of keyboard performance controllers. The diminutive keyboard is made up of 25 miniature, velocity-sensitive keyboard keys with synth action.

The LPK25 contains an arpeggiator, which steps through chords automatically, assisting musicians with creating quick melodic ideas. Sustain, octave up and down and tap tempo controls round out the LPK25’s easy-to-learn layout.

The LPK25 works plug and play with Mac and PC and requires no software driver installation or wall power for operation. It has four memory banks for programming and recalling settings appropriate to different software programs you use.

Got this Akai LPK25 from Dolphin and it's great!. You get what you pay for, being that the key alignment is not spot on but that does not mater when it comes to use!.
It is easy to play and shift octaves.
The keys have a springy feel that is ok and the velocity feature is a plus.
For me it is ideal as i have my laptop on a custom stand so i just slide the AKAI LPK25 under when i am not useing it.
It works a treat with Reaper DAW and because of the Fantastic Arpeggiator i can really get into tweeking my soft synths like never before, almost don't miss my Old Pro One now.
All in all, look's good, nice size, easy octave shift, orange lights look smart, Go's well with my other kit.
Get it if it is just for the Appegi!!!!

Akai Professional LPK 25

The Akai Professional LPK 25 is fantastic. It’s about the length of a twelve inch ruler and is great for quick midi programming. If you are tight for space and use a programme like Cubase on your desktop or laptop PC, the LPK 25 is ideal for adding drums, synth, piano, halion samples etc. As a mini midi keyboard it’s hard to fault. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

I have read that some people have latency problems (a time lag between hitting the keys and hearing the sound) with midi keyboards. This usually has nothing to do with the keyboard and certainly has nothing to do with the LPK 25. If you have a good sound card with decent ASIO software you’ll have no problems with latency; my desktops immediately ran perfectly with the LPK 25. However, there will be those with cheaper laptops (like me) who having plugged in the LPK will probably experience latency; in my case it was embarrassingly bad. Again this is not the fault of the LPK but the cheap sound card on the laptop. It was easily fixed by a great free download from www.asio4all.com (and I’m really grateful to those guys). I’m also grateful, as usual, to Dolphin for their incredibly fast delivery and great price.
