UA-25
This is a great audio interface. Currently im using it in my room and getting great sound quality from it.
Edirol UA-25
Great unit, usb instead of firewire, no problems with speed, excellent sound quality. Easy to set up (2 or 3mins and your away) multiple sample options so it will match most programs. I use it for overdubs in Sony Vegas Pro8 and it is clean and quite. Headphone output...nice. You can adjust the latency to stop the echo so you can work in real time ...and it goes precisely on the track. DOWNSIDE no MONO input for the microphone to utilise both channels, so more post production work or use a splitter (use a splitter less hassel)!! highly recomended almost a full 10!

Excellent sturdy interface, its great for connecting midi controllers, keyboards etc. You can connect your guitar direct, and control the input volume very precisely with the firm knob controls.
The manual is very easy to read and understand, I got this up and running very quickly, by connecting the USB lead to my Macbook. After installing the drivers, within a few seconds of connecting, macbook recognised this and allowed me to use it with Garageband and Logic. I now have it running with all sound outputted through the line-out of the Edirol into computer speakers, using a RCA to 1/8" socket.
The direct monitor is also an excellent feature, to listen to whats being inputted into the edirol.
This product has definitely given me confidence in the edirol brand, and I'm already considering purchasing the UA 101.
Only one slight fault i've experienced, is the odd time I plug this into my macbook, there is a buzzing and latency in the input, but this is instantly fixed by changing to a different USB port on my macbook.

is yet another piece of my veteran kit!
its a perfect piece of kit for anyone who wants to record and produce things like vox over backing tracks or ambient stereo recordings. i have even used this to produce singer/songwriters with guitars, vox and other instruments... so pretty much anything you only really need 2 mics or less ;)
i've used this with both my macbook and my PC and it's worked really nicely! i have found a couple of latency problems with logic 8 express with live monitoring though i have a feeling that is only because i installed it very quickly and never really played with any settings...
the only reason im ever going to discard this little unit is due to needing to upgrade to something with more channels heh heh ;)
i've never used the digital input/output on it though so i couldn't say what it's like there...
overall i love it and would recommend to any aspiring producer :)
Fantastic piece of kit
Within ten minutes of getting this out of the box I had my bass guitar and ancient, non-USB Yamaha keyboard plugged into Cakewalk and ready to use. I was genuinely shocked how easy it was to set up.
The (Windows XP) driver installation was very easy and everything sounds ten times better than the cheap built-in sound card I've been relying on for years. If you've ever put a CD in a drive and managed to click 'install' without any problems then you shouldn't have to much hassle.
If I had to have a tiny, tiny complaint, it would be the max volume of the thing, which seems a little quiet even when turned all the way up. I mean, it's loud enough, but I've just bought a new pair of headphones recently so I wanted to be deafened.
Despite the minor volume problem, however, it is WELL worth the money.
UA25 Setup
I bought this product with a AKG 2000B mic to improve my vocal recording.
The setup instructions are a mess and I had a hard time configuring the Edirol.
I did not find the quality to be much better than the S Blaster card in my computer and as I had automatic recognition of SB Audigy to any recording software I threw the UA 25 on to the shelf and there it lies.

works first time with Linux and Mac. The usual pain with windows.
Got down to 8ms full duplex latency with linux, and others have got down to 4ms.
I notice a hum about 110hz with phantom power, though I haven\'t isolated the problem. It may only happen when my laptop is plugged into the mains.
I bought this as a rugged USB recording interface, and as such it performs well.
Great little unit
I've had this sound card for about 5 months now an have to say its fantastic. Really great value for money and feels very solid and well built. Its been used on a long series of gigs and has survived everthing I have throw at it (including accidently dropping it from a very high hight!). If your after a cost effective high quality USB powered sound card you have just found it. I can't rate it highly enough.
Edirol UA25
It does everything it says it does and does them well. A good buy and it's been reliable and noise free.
Two irritations:
1. The setup and use of soundcard instructions are overly complicated.
2. All my mics come out very bottom-end heavy via the unit, I have to roll off plenty to get a crisp sound. It gets in the way.
Edirol UA25
I have been using the UA-25 for several months now and have to admit to being a bit of a fan. The unit is small, well built, portable, bus powered and has a nice suite of features. The sound quality of the XLR balanced inputs is very natural, clean, low noise and uncoloured.
Admittedly the mic preamps are not the quietest I have ever used, but unless you have a super low noise transformer coupled mic the odds are they will be more than adequate for the purpose.
Zero latency monitoring, including mono sum, is very simple to use and great when tracking guitars and vocals using a Sequencer such as Sonar.
The limiter is really not that useful as it is fixed at a 2:1 compression ratio with a threshold of -12dB, so it might be useful for supressing the occasional transient but will not replace a decent outboard compressor.
The drivers for XP are absolutely rock solid and stable, I have had no issues whatsoever with the v1.0.0 drivers shipped with the unit, in both WDM and ASIO. You can set latency as low as 3ms with no stuttering or dropouts, which is approaching the limits of a USB device, due to the buffer size inherent in the USB spec.
Overall a great sounding, versatile and very good value for money. Ideal for recording on the move with a decent laptop.
