Nice ide,shame about the...
As a home producer I bought this as a much-needed space saver. Inintially, it seemed very good. Then the problems started. First, the button LEDS on the controller started coming on in various combinations.Sometimes all the LEDS were on a the same time, when it was not even in use, which should not have happened. After 2 weeks,it started randomly connecting and disconnecting to the PC. Not good when you have to close and reopen the DAW everytime to reconnect it. It become so bad it was unuseable. I contacted Korg who recommened that I should not use a USB hub (though it is a powered hub fit for this purpose). Still,it seemed to work ok again plugged in the rear of PC,but there is no off swtich on the controller, so it is either on ad finitum or pulled out by the wire. Not ideal. Today the controller fell off my desk onto a carpeted floor, about 2 feet.Really what you would expect to happen occassionally given its size and purpose. The internal USB connector has sheared off inside the controller.Kaputt.No screws in the case.Attempting to lever the top out of the case seems sure to break large lumps off.It is not designed for repairs.Had this only cost £15 I would still have felt cheated. Be warned !
Korg Nano Kontrol
I\'ve had the Kontrol for a few months now and am finding it more and more enjoyable to use as I learn more about it. I use Pro Tools 8 and for a while I thought it would only be useful with the midi learn capabilities. However, now, having managed to find a template to fit, I can now control all aspects of Pro Tools (transport, virtual mixer, plug ins, etc) from the nano kontrol as a \'midi controller\' in Pro Tools, and this has opened up the possibilities no end. The \'scenes\' allow for controls to be mapped in a variety of different ways and the knobs and faders are a reasonable build (for the price!) The knobs are limited in that the have a set range, rather than being on an endless cycle (like most controllers around at the moment). Having said that, this is only a minor set back. Is also really useful with Ableton when DJing as you can make the various buttons to stop/start play back, activate plug ins, automate effects, etc.
At £50, you can\'t really as for me.
Spot on.
