Blue is a professional, easy-to-use, cross-fusion virtual synthesizer by sound designer Rob Papen and music software developer Jon Ayres.

This new cross-fusion synthesis delivers FM Synthesis, Phase Distortion, Synthesis, Wave Shaping Synthesis and Subtractive Synthesis in one creative combination!

Blue has six oscillators which can be connected in various ways, two analogue style modelled stereo filters, an enormous range of processing and modulation options and an incredibly powerful sequencer and arpeggiator, all brought together with the inspirational Rob Papen presets for a wide range of musical styles.

Despite these heavy features, Blue is so easy-to-use thanks to its user interface and the innovative ‘easy edit’ page for quick sound changes!

  • Nine Envelopes, AHDSFR type. Direct connection to the Oscillators to make sound editing fast and easy.

  • Ten LFOs with various waveforms and are midi-syncable.

I\'ve bought Rob papen blue few weeks ago. There was a great offer as I got free albino. However, this is a review of RB blue only. This synthesizer is sold in small box (very nice though :). Inside I found Cd-rom with blue only, so there is no printed manual shipped with it. However I think it\'s good idea, because If you are just composer/musician You don\'t need to know all parameters of this product so If you spent about half hour of reading manual in pdf format that will be enough time and You will save some trees :) If you pro You needn\'t read too much either as this synth is quite simple and You will know most of functions straight away.
After installation You need to register it online and You can enjoy new, great synthesizer. An interface is simple and beautiful. Things which I like are as follow: 1. quality - really amazing, all patches sound really incredible 2. patches are divided in groups (like leads, arps, pads, etc.), so no more looking for proper patch 3. there are hundreds of them 4. they are very various, because Blue blends many sorts of synthesis . What I don’t like: 1. even in these days Blue is still very hungry :) some pads needs about 15-30% of processor\'s power (core 2 duo 2.66ghz,2gb ram), although some only 2-5%. 2. hmmm… I didn’t find anything more at the moment :)
So I think is a really good software, and I definitely recommend it.
