Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff Pi
This is my first fuzz pedal and it\\\'s fantastic. It\\\'s a solid and well built unit. The \\\'Tone\\\' and \\\'Sustain\\\' knobs let you vary your sound from a mild growl to a full blown synthy fuzz.
One problem with some other fuzz pedals is that fuzz can cause you to lose some of the lower frequencies, so there are two modes to remedy this: \\\'Bass Boost\\\' increases the volume of the lower frequencies, whereas \\\'Dry\\\' is a blend with a fixed amount of original signal blended with the fuzz. If you don\\\'t need these, you can use the \\\'Normal\\\' setting which works best when the tone knob is set lower. Both worked great when I tested them with my band.
As far as connecting it up to amps goes, you get a \\\'Dry out\\\' output on the pedal which provides an untouched bass signal, in addition to the \\\'Effect out\\\' which uses the footswitch to toggle the fuzz on/off.
I run my pedal using a 9v battery but can\\\'t comment on battery life as I have only owned the pedal for two weeks. There is a 9v jack on the pedal if you prefer to power it from a mains supply.
If you need a fuzz that sounds great for bass, keeps your low end intact and doesn\\\'t cost a fortune, I highly recommend this one.
ehx bass big muff
The best fuzz on bass i have ever heard. The dry setting is great.
Bass Big Muff Review
An excellent fuzz pedal designed for bass, the Bass Big Muff Pi is a very versatile pedal. In Bass Boost mode, the low end is really pushed to give a very solid, round tone. The Normal mode is designed to sound like the classic green Sovtek Big Muff, but is slightly tame in comparison. The Dry mode is where this pedal stands out though, blending your original dry tone to a variable amount of fuzz ensures the bottom end doesn\'t fall out (unlike most bass fuzz/distortion/overdrive pedals). Coupled with the ability to bi-amp or run a second effects loop due to the twin outputs, this pedal is a winner!
review
Essentially this product is the russian big muff but voiced for bass. I like the tone you get out of this pedal, but if you are expecting a variety of fuzz sound you should look elsewhere.
