BEST GUITAR UNDER £600! |
The rough-and-tumble Classic Vibe Stratocaster ’60s evokes that musically adventurous decade, with a few modern features added. Winner of the MIA Awards 2009 as Best Electric Guitar Under £600.
The alder body has a Three-color Sunburst finish; the ’60s-era vintage-tint gloss-maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium-jumbo frets and a modern 9.5” radius.
The thick tone comes from the alnico V single-coil pickups—quick attack with a bit more midrange force and a knockout bridge pickup. Custom staggered polepieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

I normally play bass but wanted to try a bit of lead, so I bought this
guitar in order to try some of the Shadows stuff. I was amazed at the overall quality of this instrument from the word go, but the sound was simply fantastic and is as good as any Mexico or standard Strat that I\'ve ever heard. I don\'t know how anyone could produce such a brilliant guitar for the price. Finding that Hank Marvin sound was a breeze. So save a shed load of money and buy it! you won\'t regret it.

Just bought one of these for my 13 year old as a first electric and to stop him wanting to play my guitars. I was staggered by the build quality, action and intonation setup out of the box and general feel. The neck is superb with a really comfortable shape, dark rosewood and even a bit of flame in the maple! Also it looks really sweet in the Candy Apple Red. Sounds excellent overall with great sustain in the wood if perhaps just a little harsh on the bridge pickup - but at the price that\'s a very small niggle. If you look closely you can see that the hardware is somewhere they\'ve saved money, but nothing serious to worry about. This is a very giggable guitar and represents astonishing value. Unless you\'re really stuck on the idea of a Fender logo on the headstock (and another coupe of hundred on the price!) this must be a no-brainer. Kids today don\'t realise how lucky they are...

Without doubt, the very best budget guitar I\'ve ever tried. Looks, sound, feel and play-ability. Will inspire new musicians to take up the guitar.
And the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s costs under £250, which means it beat much more expensive guitars - Now that's value-for-money!
How did the guitar become the world's favourite instrument? Alan Yentob begins this personal journey, fascinated by both the sound of the Oud, an ancient middle-eastern ancestor of the lute, and the iconic guitar draped round the necks of Bill Hailey and Elvis Presley, which rocked the cosy world of popular music in the 50s. Starts Sunday 5th October.
