The DT 990 PRO is an open dynamic headphone designed for studio and professional applications.

The transducers are fitted to adjustable yokes which should be positioned to fully enclose the ear. This will provide the optimum ear/speaker position for accurate sound monitoring.

The coiled cord can be extended to a maximum of 3 m and is terminated with a high-quality gold plated mini-jack and a 1/4" stereo jack adapter.

Excellent low-level monitoring

I have been using these headphones now for 2 years, and they are simply perfect.

In previous reviews some comment that the headphones are "blowing" and that the bass is distorting - this is because they are super accurate low level monitoring headphones, wich is why they are so precise and have such clarity.

If you need to monitor at louder levels, switch to some HD25's (which I also use), but for mixing down and excellent bass response, these are the best headphones in their range on the market.

Beyer DT990 Pro

I bought these to replace my Senheiser HD205 headphones, which I use for mixing at home on Cubase. So far, I have found these to be greatly superior to the SHD205's in clarity and detail.
They are extremely light and comfortable to wear for prolonged periods (12 hours is quite normal for me).

The build quality appears to be up to Beyer's normal high standard. I have used Beyer headphones in various studios for many years and have come to trust in their quality and dynamic range.

Shipping from Dolphin was superb as always.

Agreed poor reliability but worth the money

My first pair of DT990s lasted about 2 years before one of the coils completely failed.

The thing is, I miss them, and I'm happy to fork out again for the sheer quality of sound. It's a almost like a subscription to high quality headphones! But they really are so good!

dt990pro's are unreliable

I was incredibly impressed with the sound of these headphones, they are probably the nicest headphones I have ever heard. Everything from low to high is incredibly clear and represented, and the transient response is very revealing for headphones.
Unfortunately, they keep blowing and distorting bass notes. My pair have blown twice in 6 months and even though Beyer have repaired, I am thoroughly unsatisfied with this. I've never had HP's blow on me in the past and these have only been plugged into the dedicated headphone out of my Focusrite Saffire audio interface.
They have been sat on the shelf as I have not had the time to post them to Beyer (again)
Despite my initial satisfaction with their (truly awesome) sound, these headphones were not worth the money and my low score reflects my disappointment.
