blue baby bottle
The Blue Baby Bottle is a beautiful microphone, and well priced and presented. It easily outclasses mics twice it\'s price (eg AKG414s, AT4050s etc), in many applications (vocals, or acoustic guitars, for example), be warned though that without pads or switchable polar patterns it isn\'t suitable for all recording applications.
Vocalists using it have commented to me on how crisp they sound through the mic. It has a pronounced low-mid range, and my favorite application so far is for rappers or solo acoustic guitars (mid peak means that guitars don\'t sit so well in the mix with other instruments, however so as part of an ensemble I\'d recommend a smaller diaphragm).
The package also includes a beautiful wooden box, an elegant shock mount, and an attractive pop shield. However the pop should is completely useless, and a proper one should be used in stead - don\'t get caught out in a session with tho included one - you\'ll need to record everything again!
Crisp and warmth
Compact and weighty, inexpensive and quality all rolled into this excellent microphone from Blue. On opening the package I was welcomed by a sleek cherry coloured box with the microphone nestled up inside. In addition to this mic I also received a shock mount and mesh guard which delighted me as I would not have to buy these extras. I couldn\'t wait to use the mic. Oh boy does it deliver too, it captures the depth of your voice whilst keeping it crisp, when I played back what I had sung I was very happy. I have the mic on a basic boom mic stand yet even when I slightly knocked it, there was barely any noise generated, its a very low noise mic. I tried the microphone with various instruments to see how it would react in other situations. It works very well with acoustic and electric instruments alike. Putting your instruments at different angles and different distances away from the mic produces unique (yet always full of quality) sounds, making experimenting much more fun than ever.
The overall package and value for money is extremely good. I would recommend to fellow amateur and professional recorders alike.
