Amazing!

When I first picked this up I was thinking that with all the knobs and switches it\'d be over complicated and would ruin the playing experience. I played three notes and my opinion changed completely.

Compared to a standard Jazz bass the sound is fatter, rounder, more defined. The Active EQ, although looking complicated, is very simple to use and very easy to find the sound you are looking for, and the active/passive switch lets you easily change between the \'classic\' jazz bass tone and the more thunderous active sound, even through a smaller amp.

The bigger neck and general bulkiness of this instrument really gives you a feeling that this isn\'t a toy and is there for business.
As far as durability is concerned, this is made to the same fender standards, which means it is as solid as a rock. I would have no problem gigging without a backup.

Where looks are concerned, this bass has it. The natural wood defines this bass and the block fret markers, although discrete, certainly give the bass a very nice character.

My only two problems with this bass, and they are very minor, is that the plate over the neck pickup does require a little bit of getting used to for popping and slapping, (although can be used to create some quite cool percussive sounds) and the amount of screws visible around the scratchplate. On a standard jazz bass there are 10 screws clearly visible, with three that are hard to see against the metal control panel, whereas because the whole scrachplate/control panel is black on this bass there are a whopping 20 screws clearly visible, which in my opinion is the instruments only visual downfall, although on mine i have replaced these screws with black ones i found in B&Q.

All in all, a quality bass worth much more than you pay for it.
