E-MU 1212M PCI V2 versus M-Audio 192

My conclusion is:

The M-Audio 192 outperforms the EMU1212M by along way in terms of the sound quality. Where EMU-1212M wins is in the breadth of additional features, which I actually have no interest in for my application. M-Audio have done an excellent job in attaining closest to the reference design performance and they haven\'t overly exaggerated the performance either! So in short, if you want the best possible sound quality without spending hundreds of pounds, then buy the M-Audio 192; whereas if the additional features offered by EMU appeal to you and the sound quality is good enough, then buy the EMU-1212M; or if you want both then look elsewhere.

Good card

This card offers a lot more functionality that I really need. Bought it to get a high quality SPDIF output for my PC based Hi-fi. The card gave a definate improvement in sound quality over the Asus Xonar D2 that it replaced.

However I\'m running Vista. The drivers on the supplied disk didn\'t work & it took me a while to realise that I had to download both the latest drivers AND patchmix software from the EMU website.

This isn\'t a simple card to set up & Patchmix is massivly complex. Hence loss of 2 stars.

Quality of the card & sound quality is superb though.

Amazing Sound

Delivery was fast with no transaction problems so service receives a 10 out of 10.

This card sounds absolutely fantastic \'if\' (and i must stress this if) you can get it to work. The manual isn\'t very helpful at explaining the software at all and
I\'m still working on getting it to work through cubase without crackling but until then i can enjoy listening to music as i if i were standing at a gig so still recommended!

Brilliant Product

After having poor customer service from competetors absolute music, I ordered this card from here, and have been absolutely amazed at the speediness of delviery, and the quality of the card.

The sound is much better than my onboard soundcard, drivers were not an issue even on Vista 64Bit, contrary to a lot of reviews i found. The Midi Sync is perfect, no trace of delay.

10 out of 10 for this card, a brilliant buy for anyone looking for a good, simple studio PCI audio interface

E-MU 1212M

This sound card and the great software bundle that come with it, is truly awesome, I thought my Audigy 2 was good, but the additional subtle sounds that you can hear with this card is incredible, since adding an Audio dock M and an XBoard 49 Midi keyboard controller, I have enhanced the usability of this great card 100%, but on it's own this card is unbelieveably good, the quality of the sound of the VST instruments is excellent. I'd recommend this powerful card to anyone serious about their sound recording and mixing.
