The Worst Mic I Have Ever Tried
This is by far the worst Mic that I have ever tried. Everything apart form the way it looks is terrible.
Recommend you buy an audio interface, Shure SM57 and a small desktop tripod.
Even if the Samson G-Track cost £10, you would still be wasting your money.
Avoid
Great Deal
First of all don\'t expect this to be the best...Im very happy with my purchase, and is the best mic I\'ve bought so far. I have bought Neuman, Se, and many others, but for the price of this one I say it beats most. The mixer on it makes it a lot easier to work with.
I thought like the others, it wouldn\'t be as easy to install, but my computer found it straight away and installed in a matter of minutes. It comes with a music program demo. It has good quality but depending on how much sound you want it to capture it depends on the noise youll get. 0 latency for Mixcraft 5. You can plug your headphones and instruments directly into the mic which i think is great, and easy to use...
Im very happy
PS: Just so you know the Shock Mount is not included!
Samson G-Track Review
First things first, don't expect a miracle for RRP£129, this is no rode K2, but it does have a rich warm sound with a descent and crisp high end. Vocals sound great and acoustic guitar came through brilliantly as well. The audio-in as a godsend for the artist on the move.
Pros:
• Highly Mobile, easy to install, and incredibly
versatile overall.
• Great response for a mic of this price range,
nice rich warm sound - superb with guitars and
vocals.
• Cheap as chips for its class, for amateur
recording, semi pro with adobe audition and a
noise reduction template or simply pod-casting,
this is your mic.
Cons:
• The noise floor - As with many USB mics, the
noise floor is inherently higher due to the
fluctuation in the USB current. Some USB mics
are fitted with specific circuitry to prevent
this, sE Electronics’ USB2200a for example.
The Samson is not, and therefore for
professional recording it should not be used.
• On my Intel Mac Pro I was having issues with
crackling and buzzing, however on my Mac book
pro it was fine, as on my PC.
• The frequency response is off and just to
clouded at the high end for professional use,
don't get me wrong its actually very good, but
think £400+ for a really truthful response.
