Glyph's fixed-mount tabletop, the GT 050Q, builds upon the success of the original GT 050 and adds FireWire 800, eSATA and USB ports.

Designed for high-speed access to audio and video content, while at the same time offering flexible connectivity options, the GT 050Q is the highest performing Quad interface drive on the market today. the GT 050's durable design features an internal power supply, whisper-queit fan, and 1/8" thick brushed stainless steel face plate. The scratch-resistant black powder-coated aluminum chassis offers additional heat transfer properties while allowing the drive to be lightweight and portable. Available with up to 750GB Seagate SATA 7,200 RPM drives, the GT 050Q comes standard with a three-year warranty that includes overnight advance replacement in the first year.

Excellent!

So far have been very impressed. My Mac recognised it immediately. Over Firewire it\'s very fast. I\'m sure with Sata it\'d be extremely quick. It\'s pretty quiet. Not absolutely silent as it has a fan but definitely on the quiet side. The overall impression is that this is a quality product, especially with the warranty. If I was going to buy another external drive, I\'d buy another of these.

A great little box, no complaints at all so far, nippy as anything when it comes to dumping files onto it or opening up a PT session. A few niggles in getting it delivered from Dolphin :( but since it arrived there\'s been no going back. Rock solid construction and just needed formatting for Windoze. Certainly the way to go if you need a reliable dedicated external drive. Handy flight case meant I could chuck it in the bag without the fear of it getting damaged during a recent trip down to Blighty.
The firewire and USB2 cables are a nice addition, although, I\'d forgotten that I\'d need to order a separate 6-4 pin firewire cable for the laptop.
