EastWest MoR
I have purchased demos of all four of the Quantum Leap PLAY plugins from the EASTWEST website. These demos are fully functioning but only for 2 days each - and you need an iLok - £30 if you haven\'t already got one. I\'m so glad I purchased the demos rather than forking out full price!
Each one seems to have about 10% great stuff and 90% virtually un-usable.
In MoR, the Telecaster is very usable, really very usable. But as with all the instruments you have very little control over the sound in terms of adding or removing effects, so the sound is pretty much how it is (it does have reverb and chorus but these don\'t change the tonal quality) - you could run through other plugins (GuitarRig etc. but you can\'t tweak the original amp so this isn\'t very fruitful).
The other guitars are frankly horrible. You may be able to find a use for some of them, but your material will quickly all sound the same if you tried to do a whole album. The Acoustic guitar chord patch looks good on first glance, but the tone between different \"articulations\" (or even chords) makes it sound unnatural.
The basses are OK, but nothing to blow you away.
The drums are really a waste of time again. Very limited sounds. For a fraction of the cost you could buy EZdrummer or Addictive Drums both of which are infinitely better than this. Incidentally, the promotional material for MoR boasts that it includes the \"actual\" kit used Metallica\'s Black album - I was looking forward to play on this but found it to be the worst of the handful of kits included. The Ludwig was probably the best of the bad bunch.
Simply put: not worth the money.
ministry of rock
Well its about time a company brought a plugin out dedicated specifically for the Rock Music Genre,
As We are not all minimalistic based musicians !
I had to try this new VST plugin from Eastwest
Ministry of Rock. the only thing I can say is WOW!
If your like me and use the laptop computer based software to create Rock music, I would say this VST instrument is A MUST HAVE item. The samples are unbelievable.
The plug in itself has filters delays reverbs etc and a 20 G sample bank which consists of Kits Guitars and Basses that would bring tears to your grannies eyes, well that's if grannies a rocker !
It can be used as a stand alone, or as a VST instrument, and is a bit heavy on the RAM but all in all its worth it ! thanks Eastwest.
p.s. You will need an ilok to use this plugin.
